From Storm in Heaven:

Welcome to Momoko's waking nightmare. Things were settled, they were! She was SUPPOSED to have gone to a normal school, made normal friends, and led a blissfully normal life. But the universe is just cruelly, irredeemably, monstrously unfair, so instead she found herself thrown out of home, stuck in an all-boys boarding school with a roommate she hates, cursed with a hideous haircut and wearing clothes which, to be frank, she wouldn't be seen dead in. And the only thing worse than her current situation is the one that she'll be in if anyone ever realizes that she is, in fact, a girl. Everything is wrong! Particularly the fact that, even though she's surrounded by amazingly gorgeous guys, her chances of romance are less than zero. But with life this complicated, something's bound to give - and so it does.

I decided to read this despite what most comments said. And I have to say I was throughly impressed. There's some humor here and there and plenty of cute romance. She doesn't change her personality to fit in with the boys, and that's one thing I like about her. But what's annoying about her is that she's ditzy, naive, and pushy at times. Also some notice that she's actually a girl pretty fast which I also like because truly how long can a girl last in an all boys academy without being noticed?

I recommend it. But at points the story is great, then goes downhill, then brings itself up again with a twist.

I love most of Shimaki Ako stuff and this was no exception. It is not her best work but still rather entertaining. The main female character can be overly naive in some parts of the story. I look forward to reading the remaining manga.

Better than you might expect...(Especially given some of the more derogatory comments below mine)

I've read both Hana Kimi and Boku ni Natta Watashi, and I have to say that I enjoyed Boku ni Natta Watashi more. Each has their good points and bad points, but--without taking length into account--I would read Boku ni Natta Watashi again (actually, I have read it more than once), while I wouldn't read Hana Kimi again. I think that, on the whole, the characters in Boku ni Natta Watashi are much more realistic (though, truthfully, neither story line is entirely plausible).

The only thing I can think of that Hana Kimi did better than Boku ni Natta Watashi is that it took longer for the main male lead to discover his roommate was actually female. That drawn out process added drama to it and made the focus more on the gender bending aspect than the romance aspect.

Boku ni Natta Watashi, on the other hand, has a host of things that make it better than Hana Kimi. As I've mentioned, I find the characters more realistic overall. Adding to that, the sexuality aspect is dealt with much more in Boku ni Natta Watashi than it is in Hana Kimi. (Of course one could tie the sexuality aspect in to the gender bending aspect--in that sexuality is often defined by gender.) Either way, a boy and girl living together as teenagers and wanting to have sex seems much more realistic to me.

The ending to Boku ni Natta Watashi seemed much more realistic to me as well. As realistic as a shoujo manga can be, anyway.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Momoko's issues with returning to life as a girl were very interesting. She even slips up and uses a male pronoun to describe herself. I like that Shimaki-san went there and illustrated those issues.

Aside from the story line, I love this manga for the art. I'm very fond of Shimaki Ako's art style and similar art styles.

Well, I suffered through the entire first chapter, and I really dislike it.
It moves WAY too fast, not to mention the main character is so ANNOYING. Its not even realistic. I suggest you go read Hana-Kimi instead. Its much better.
Also Sum, I can't ever remember anyone seeing the Main character straight out naked and not finding out she is a girl. She just thinks they didn't. XDDDD

I think the drawings are definitely worth the fast-paced story in the beginning. I really love her style and I also prefer the manga over Hana Kimi. I think Hana Kimi is way childish in comparison. I also can't understand how teh story is similar to Hana Kimi because it really isn't except for teh Girl-inBoy-dormitory part. But, seriously, there are many, many more mangas with that story.
Anyways, I love it!

It's a complete piece of junk. The gender bending aspect is ruined. The heroine is stupid (even stupider than the typical heroine) and pretty ugly actually. The mangaka has problems with pacing the couple's romance.. I just hate it.

Please read Hana Kimi before you read this. You'll realize which one's superior very very quickly.

I rarely read shoujo, and this manga is the perfect reason why. How can a single character ruin an entirely good story? Gods she's so stupid it hurts me - and why is her mouth perpetually open anyway? Arrrghhh!

SiH chooses to scanlate some really good series - and some really bad ones...
