wow. good story. i do enjoy the medieval/European based manga every now and then. generic samurai story gets old.

not only that, but thorfinn is straight up HARD CORE. seriously this guy eats rocks and shits gunpowder, and they didnt even HAVE that back then...

Excellent in every aspect, a definite worth read. Don't be turned off by the obscure genre and setting. Yukimura manages to bring out the core concepts of philosophy behind love. If you've read Planetes, the subject will not be unfamiliar. Beautifully drawn, and eloquently written.

I stumbled onto this manga when I was bored and I was absolutely hooked from the very beginning. I love love love it! It's such a contrast from all those boring highschool drama mangas out there. It's really really (X10) good!
I can't wait until the next chapter is released. ^^

Yukimura has obviuosly done a lot of research work... he even considered the attitudes of chrstians to war and the structure of viking armies.
A big surprise were also the fights: they are not only realistic (well apart from the kick in chapter 37) but also well varied (duels, battles and assasinations).

I've read both this and Historie since they were near the top of the list in ratings here at BMU. I've got to say that both their ratings are well deserved. I haven't had this much fun reading since guyver, berserk then claymore. The art is great and the plotline is awesome as well, i wasn't that captivated at first but by the time i got to the 2nd volume, it just became awesome. everyone should give this a try.

Great storytelling, great art, wonderful characters.

An impressive peice of work.
however, i personally do not enjoy blood/gore - and that is plentiful.
but,
the plot, the characters and the art is different. The Art is not brilliant or 'beautiful' but, it can capture movement vividly; which is enough for an action packed manga like this.

With the art and storytelling, you can be in the fights: the blast of it all. Moreover, the art is capable of highlighting emotions and creating mood, which is admirable.
Some people might not be used to these kinda realistic art, took me a while too..

The way the characters can be seen to develop as the plot progresses...its very exciting to watch it unfold. The action, the kick-ass characters, the drama...*sigh*

For now, I give 8 because i couldnt take some of the cruelty and i am not completely enraptured by the story right now (due to the pace of it)

Who the hell is the main character? Son of thors isn't even seen often..he hardly talks, and he doesn't do anything...is this a story about what happened to him in the past..doesn't make any sense...This is hella confusing and I'm getting impatient. meh wtvr..i grow weary of this story...as interesting as it may be, calculating how many chapters are out and whats happened so far and apparantly up until now its all just one big flashback...I hate long flashbacks.

I suppose some people are very easily satisfied.

Another great work by Yukimura. Good character design, great story, awesome fights... everyone should give it a try.

In my opinion this manga has the potential to surpass the series I cherished most so far. For the level of tension built up by the ingenious storytelling makes me anticipate the next release of this series much more than of any other right now.
