read the whole thing and everything about this manga feel so forced, like some comments said, the story is very slow, characters are very dull and non really stan out, romance part is just plain horrible I mean shiina(i think this is the heroine's name) liked aoi when she only met him once, he told her he hate her and treat her like crap yet she still like him, no she I actually like him more, the characters past is so exaggerated and so forced, the whole hid one weak/ugly self behind cheerful bright smile didn't we have enough of it in furuba. I think that after furuba success, Natsuki is playing it safe

I've read 8 chapters of this manga,uhm...well,it's pretty good.I think Hoshi wa utau is a little bit wierd,a little slow,little bit complex mix sad.And the male main character-Chihiro is very mysterious (do you guys think he looks like Hatori kun in FB?),the female main character,she very strong,very sweet with everyone...just like Tohru.( Takaya Natsuki's female character all very strong ^^ i like them).I hope on the next chapter,the story will better and better ^^

I really love this story, the first few chapters I was thinking oh no not a boring romance where the guy is perfect blah blah blah but amazingly the twist, I had not seen coming and its a wonderful twist! just my kind of romance! I really don't mind that its a rather fast paced manga as it means we don't have to wait for long scanlation delays to find out what happens yet. I do think the side character (the male whos name I've forgotten) is a tad stereotypical for my liking and although I like the chapter about him hes just a bit annoying. I love this manga and I prefer it some times to fruits basket as the lead male is definitely not perfect which is a nice change as it makes you wonder what he has against the lead female and I don't find the lead girl annoying in the slightest her troubled past makes her all the more lovable and I admire her! I honestly don't see any resemblance to fruits basket, apart from the art. Tohru came from a nice family and Kyou never hated her so I fail to see where every one sees the comparisons? besides the lead guy is a kinda evil yuki rather then a kyou.. any way I think those who like Takayas works will like this one and those who haven't read any of Takayas works will be surprised by the deepness of this one!

Intricately plotted, but the pace of this is so excruciatingly slow I actually ended up reading backwards from the latest scanlation out of frustration!

This seems a fairly controversial series, with people either loving it or hating it. As for me, I've been delaying Hoshi wa Utau for a long time. I was therefore surprised when I started to really enjoy this manga! My love for it grew with every chapter. With the series description, I first thought it would be a depressing series, but it is actually a rather heartwarming series underneath, as every character struggles with their inner conflicts, which is perhaps its only resemblance with Fruits Basket.

The character development is great, and the characters are very attachable. I also love the hints of mystery, subtlety and sensitivity that the mangaka does so well. Surprising developments catch you when you least expect it. Definitely looking forward to the future chapters!
