I usually only comment on complete manga. But this one really got me! I can't wait for the next chapter. The plot is so different, so sad, so compelling. I'm really torn between emotionally justifiable and morally wrong. It's awesome!

I just read this manga last night and hesitated to read it at first because I feel tragedy creeping up somewhere in the ending, but I gave it a try due to the good reviews and boy am I glad!

This is just so complicated and sexy, the kind of manga where after you read a chapter you would go on your day thinking about how the manga would proceed...it really gets to you, this is the power of this manga.

I am so excited! I heard over mangafox that chapter 11 was the supposed last chapter...and I do hope things work out the way it must be in yaoi land....then again, surprise me! smile (just please not a tragedy)

update:
Wow! the extras really helped seal my verdict on this manga! And reading this, I have felt like 'Not Equal' is the correct way of resolving the story that 'Inheritance of Aroma' did not have (that shit manga made me ride the feel bus and crushed me when it rode off a the cliff of tragedy). I love you Ike Reibun-sensei! <3

I have really liked this manga so far! It's very interesting, I had never seen a yaoi manga with time travel before... It makes the two guys' relationship complicated. I can't wait to see what's gonna happen. I kinda hope they really are father and son (I mean, biologically related), otherwise the story would lose the thing that makes it interesting.
I'm not rating it yet because only 7 chapters had been released so far.

Oh man, the way this has been peiced together is excellent. After seeing their relationship together, i went back to the start to see how they are with each other and it was so danm cute!

Really, i wish Ryous mum turned out to be a slut and that Ryou is not Konomis son and then they could be together.
At the moment everything is working against them, what with being gay, then not being able to get married, then not being able to have kids and on top of that they are father and son.
In any other situation i would have said its sick and disgusting, but this one seems so different and rather...cute.

the idea of a guy fall in love and has sex with his biological father creeps me out before I read this series. Fortunately I read this one without reading any summary or warning, because if I did, I wouldnt have read it (Time Travel. Incest. Definitely a big lame no, right?) But then I'm glad I read it, because this story is so... tragically beautiful. Now I dare to say, if somehow they're not biologically related (as some ppl might hope) then this story would lose its essence.

Gosh, Konomi is a real FILF xDD

So Far, So Good-

The idea of the plot is not that unique- Going back into time, etc. But, I think it's what Ike sensei followed it up afterwards with, that made it a great manga. Honestly, I was expecting something along the lines of other BL mangas that does involve an incestuous relationship ("I don't care if you're my brother/father, let's just do it."), However, I was wrong- They don't just jump into the idea of being together. Ike-sensei took the time (3-4 chapters, a span of 5-7 years [?]), to show the thoughts and feelings over those years for both characters, leading up to the final decision of whether or not they should be together in the end.

I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming chapters to this story. I've been a fan of Ike-sensei and this particular story does not disappoint (so far). I recommend reading this at least once!

A very unusual story from Ike Rebun...

In a good way, if course. I'm not aware, at least from the one's I have read, of any other story drawn by Ike Reibun with this kind of angle to it. That is, while it does contain a certain amount of smut, there is actually a plot, with some angst thrown in for good measure, that makes me want to continue reading it. The incest angle is taken somewhat seriously (as seriously as you can get for a yaoi anyway, of course), which is a nice change, because I started this half expecting nothing but smut, but was pleasantly suprised to find out that it's not.

Long story short, if you like yaoi with plot and plenty of angst, read it. I certainly thought it was worth the time.

Very unique

The premise is good. I honestly thought it would be another run-of-the-mill type of yaoi, and... yeah, in some ways it is, but I just couldn't help but develop a certain fondness for the characters. I would def. give this a try. In the latest chapters, not only do the characters grow on you, but the plot seems to be getting better.

Edit: Another thing unique about this manga is that it never copped out. Some incest mangas veer into the "not really related by blood" trope, but not this one! They really truly are related, but the twist with this one is the whole time travel thing. Fear not, the time travel aspect takes a back seat to the human drama that unfolds so the manga isn't so much as plot driven but character driven.

I just get this vibe from this manga... it's a GOOD vibe, a unique vibe. The fact that I'm compelled to write about this (& after reading so many other yaoi+shoujo+shounen+josei+slice-of-life, etc) says something about the qualities this manga/story have. It certainly piqued my interest enough to make me remember this one.

very charming but with a touch of melancholy-my fav cup of tea! From the first chapter you know the main guy will return to the present(lol DUH!) and the father is going to be utterly devastated but you can't helping thinking there might be a good ending. Incest is oh-so-wrong but I cant help falling in love with the father. Who doesn't love a bespectacled cutie? Certainly not mebigrazz

No comments so far? Well, I won't be rating this manga since it's not completely scanlated yet, thus I don't know how it will end but judging from the first 4 chapters I have to say: gotta love this story! biggrin

I generally like Ike Reibun manga, but I find Not Equal especially charming. Hell yeah, I'm a fan of incest-manga, and Not Equal even has time skip/time travel, so I guess I was destined to love it. x'3 The characters are fresh and lovely - though young Daddy is kind of dense and blushing all the time, he's still cute. And it's interesting to see how Son from the Future and Dad of the Past slowly fall in love.^^

Nothing left to say, I'm eagerly waiting for the next chapters!

------
UPDATE 06/12: So, it's finally finished! Wow. I really loved the way the story went on, the fears and doubts about the incestous relationship were were portrayed in a nice and >real< way. I'm happy for them. The last couple of chapters however... it was still nice and emotional but still, I felt like something was slightly off. I can't explain it well. sad
Nevertheless, Not Equal is a truly great piece of work from Ike Reibun and I'm very happy I could follow its progress. Highly recommended!
