Overhyped, overated!

I've read through 15 chapters/scenes, I dont see how this could be one of the top rated mangas, could the rating be rigged? The plot seemed like the only decent thing going for it but even that said I cant enjoy reading a manga if it doesnt look good. The life of a manga is its art more than anything else, if the art is this shoddy it should be turned into a novel. Teresa supposidly a beauty was hard to look at, infact all females either had big foreheads, long torsos or ronald mc'donald feet. The action scenes were hard to follow at times and werent all that original. Until I read more maybe ill up my rating.

"As a guy, I'm happy to see that female characters are not presented in a biased and sexist manner that is found in many other mangas (oh let's say 90% of them).
Not everyone would enjoy Claymore that's for sure. But what's more certain is that over 90% will. Chances are, you're going to LUV this!"

Be realistic...Even if it IS a manga...it has nothing to doing with being sexist or biased, can women really do all the incredible things manga make them do? The answer is No. Neither can guys...but itd be safe to say that physically men are more capable..thats just how we are built. So to see a girl whos invinicble and some guy whos worthless, I wouldn't say that 90% of the people would like this. The story may be nice, but itd be nice to see a capable male AND female, not one being useless while the other is far from human. Unless theres a capable male character in here I really wont stand reading this...Even though Im a little more for equality, Im just not attracted to manga where the dominant character is female...just not my taste. A little different IRL, but just not for manga in my case.

This is a great series but dam come on they need to make their mangas a little bit faster, I appreciate them doing good quality work, but surely they can produce more than one chapter per month, without diminishing in quality!

Read it up to volume 2. You will find it more and more interesting. Good story line, packed with many breath taking actions and some sentimental touch. The art is barely above average but I like the way he draw the girl warriors. Compare to a large amount of girl faces in this series, he can manage to make every single girl looks different and unique, surprisingly.

When I read the first two volumes I thought it was a bit repetitive, and the story didn't seem to be going anywhere. However, I kept reading and now I can honestly say, "Damn it!" Because now, I wait eagerly every month like an opium addict for the next chapter. Spectacular action, suspense, twists, ciffhanger. It's all included.
As a guy, I'm happy to see that female characters are not presented in a biased and sexist manner that is found in many other mangas (oh let's say 90% of them).

The manga itself is ok. Art is good, characters interesting and plot is catching. However to put this manga at first place? Simply does not deserve it. There are too much more interesting things I read and sure will read in future.

this story reminds me alot of Berserk..

art is fine, everyone character looks same.. huge forehead, weird drawin at sometimes, etc... but Monster/Awaken/True Form designs are awesome drawnly as same Angel Densetsu (what I remember Main Character (dunno his name) fights monster in dreams)

Character Development is great

I'll give it 8.5 for overall

jeez I am lazy to write this.. ya know my eng sucks

Absolutely Great

In the beginning, the art was okay for me, and it was kinda dull. But over time, it snowballs (haha) into something truly great, and certainly worth of honors. Extremely original and creative, Claymore is so pleasantly different from what I've read before. The action and techniques are exciting, and at the same time you can feel the sadness and emotions just pouring from the page. The plot and characters are so deep, you begin to feel and care for them. More than once, I've found myself say "why is everyone so unfair?" for the characters. An attention-grabber, everyone should give Claymore a try: it's definitely worth it.

As many others have said, you just have to make it past the first few volumes. The beginning is indeed kind of slow, and there's nothing interesting to grab out at you, besides women carrying huge swords slaying beasts. The art is different too, compared to your standard manga style, and it's sometimes hard to tell apart who is who. But other than that, I think it's quite unique and kinda pretty.

As for the story and characters, I find that they're quite beautifully drawn out. Sure, the characters aren't the best, but I think that's what makes them more realistic, even if Claymores aren't human. I mean, if you're looking for characters with insanely strong and unbeatable powers right off the bat, then I don't think this is for you. Each character grows with time, and slowly improves themselves. They're also not all good nor all bad. To me, it gives a feeling of how human the characters are, always seeking to improve themselves, developing with time, and following their own desires. And realistically there's also death, and just not everyone miraculously survives.

Perhaps it's not the greatest, but I thoroughly enjoy reading it. Though I'm certain that not everyone will like this series, I highly suggest you try this series if you have the free time, and are into mangas of this genre, because the summaries and comments don't do it justice; you just have to read it to see for yourself whether it's good or not.
