this manga is just so stupid, I don't understand those of you who valued it up to even 6 above ! wthey? it's so bad, predictable, no drama at all. I mean, come on in the real world no guy like REI would even notice a girl like KIRA though she's pretty, doesn't mean he'll make a move cause all his mates might think of him as a douchebag who likes lame-ass girls. come on you guys, there is nothing good about this manga at all. i have wanted to stop since vol.4! but I thought "I'd give you another chance" I was ITCHING to stop on vol.5 but now that i have red vol.6 I have decided. THATS IT, this manga is not worth the time of my life. sooo bad, well if you like these sort of stuff sure, whatever. it's just so predictable, too much sugar i mean I WANT DRAMA, i want both to suffer just to give a better scene at the end of the suffering! do you get what I mean? i love mangas like bokura ga ita, vitamin, hana yori dango, those ones that shows REAL TOUGH CHICKS, unlike this sissy lolita who cries and cries and cries like a loser she is and he'd always be there to RESCUE HER. The characters show NO DEVELOPMENT whatsoever, you hate them even more. i liked kira in the beginning since she showed will power and passion for art, own principle and resistance towards men, but COME ON, 2 secs later she started falling in love for him I mean WHAT IS THAT, the mangaka should really consider some strong background establishment on the characters. TOTALLY LAME MANGA I HATE IT SO MUCH

Really none of da chapters were boring. each chpater was so intense and revealed so much about da characters. Only two problems with dis manga, one da characters are like really screwed up like in terms of dre childhood i mean some of da stuff just doesnt seem possible and drez wayy too much crying by da heroine like excessive. But other dan dat dis manga was really good. Had great artwork, had a heroine dat was tolerable and a hero dat was quite original in terms of character and personality. Da beginning was great, middle part was great and the ending was average really. Good plot though overall
Yes, it drives me crazy! I've never been so into shoujo, until I got a hold of it. Fuyumi Souryo is one mangaka with the best artstyle out there. Her drawings can be lively, tranquil, dark, enthusiastic, haunting, lovely, obsessing.. and on top of that, beautiful. The plot masters as a shoujo's with its twisted yet lovely way of telling, with its digging the human nature so skilfully.
The drama can't be compared with the manga. For those who haven't read the manga, I recommend you should!

Though I'm no big fan of the genre but I have read other works that are much superior to this. The main character pretty much cried all the time pining for the guy and the problems were extremely unrealistic, cliched and boring. Why this dull story is so highly rated is beyond me! 4/10
It was really good. A nice change from the teenage dramas to REAL drama it was a very intense ride emotionally and philosophically. Enjoyed it a lot... only thing it was just a tad to serious for my taste. funny though, i never cried once through out the whole thing (like i do w/ a lot of romance.)

this manga is just a masterpiece! It's just too great.
It has: a bad boy guy and not the one who'll rape her every time they're alone I'm talkin' 'bout a REAL BAD BOY the one you'd love to transform. And the girl...OMG! the girl's just great, and the characters are so great.
The plot. believe me it's not one of those that are like 'LMAO, awww, ewwww, omg how could he do...!? wtf!?' this story will make you 'cry, laugh, awww, ewww, etc'.

Mars is what every shoujo manga should aspire to be, pure and simple. In the hands of a lesser mangaka, Mars could easily have turned into just another bog-standard cliche-fest, but Soryo-sensei is a masterful storyteller and dramatist. The pacing is just right, nothing is superfluous to the central story. Soryo-sensei obviously knew what she was going to do from the start, and was not tempted into trying to prolong the series, even though it was popular.
The strengths of this manga lie in the characters. Sure, it's all very melodramatic and angsty, but the characters react in ways that you believe real people might act. No one is perfect and some wounds never heal. There isn't a single harem or flowery background in sight in Mars. And that's because Mars doesn't need them. Soryo-sensei presents her story and characters with such confidence and skill that you can't help but fall in love.
Everyone who enjoys shoujo should read Mars. You'll find it sets the benchmark for anything else you'll ever read.

Wow so i cant believe that drama i watched when i was 12 that talked about sex and stuff was based off a manga. never woulda guessed. They had it on LA 18 i think.
sorry but i have to give 6, even though i really enjoyed the series but it was too long and starting to get boring....its really exciting till 9-/+ chapters but then it gets boring as hell...
This manga means a lot to me because it was the series that got me into buying manga. Mars is very much a teenage soap opera with drama on every page. The art is great the story is great and it has a short list of characters making it easy to follow. The characters grow and discover what is important to them and over come many of there personal problems. I recommend this comic to anyone that likes romantic/shojo/drama.
