I thought I wouldn't like this because the art style is that of the 1990s but no I was wrong! This is one of the best if not the best mature shoujo I've read! Being it historical didn't bore at all because the story is developing so well and I like the art now very much. And the characters are so likeable, especially Yuri. Wish there are more manga with heroine like her.

i really dont care to the people there who cant be bothered to read a long series just because the first few chapters or volumes didnt satisfy them.. i know of countless of times where i thought "ahh this will be a boring manga" but corrected again and again (sometimes right) same goes when i think a manga is interesting all i can say is that this manga is GOOD i cant begin to imagine the kind of research the mangaka has put in to make realistic and entertaining for us and it would be an insult to say its crap just coz you were bored for a few minutes its called a PROLOGUE, an INTRO... in most cases it isnt meant to be entertaining its meant to give you the background of the story so you can understand it!!

well anyway this manga is so good although the side story Orontes Renka disappointed me but i dont think the series should suffer for that maybe the ending is a bit rough but it is a brilliant story and definately in my TOP5

I gave this manga two chances. First I only read up to chapter 3, then I read up to chapter 7 or something. Just could not take it. It is incredibly dull, and many stories are like this. If you read one like this, you read them all. Highly unrealistic, the prince looks like a female with hugo hands, and boring characters.

And the politics try to make it intriguing but it fails horribly. Terrible politics, and the whole thing with the evil queen. Oh gosh where did we see evil queens before?

But the art is nice besides huge hands and long fingers. Pretty good. Needs more detailed backgrounds, however. The backgrounds gives it even more dull flavouring.

I truly enjoyed the story and art of this manga. The depth of the characters, the growth in the relationships and the intrigue all had me wrapped around the writers finger. Very entertaining!

I do like it.. For the other characters. Yuri didn't bother me MUCH, she was just a classic lead. I think a main is meant to be someone to look up to and such, so I tend to forgive characters like her. But a huge turn-off as far as shoujo-fantasy--different-world stuff is.. Average plot, a bit boring to an amusing point, but if you're looking for something like smut, I would look elsewhere. >.> Mind you, I read the thing for the romance and blah blah, but even that gets kind of boring. I understand the main hero's interest, but, no offence, I kind of find it funny just how accepting the people are of a completely different race being revered to the point of 'god'. Maybe the Hittite can be somewhat plausible, but the Egyptians not finding her at all weird? Just, ugh. D>

To the doubters:
Name me one other lead girl in a smut manga who would hug a skinned body (referring to somewhere in the first chapters, since you obviously haven't read far).

Great story - the only smut that I've liked...

To adress some doubters from before... critics should read the whole available thing first, well actually that only means professional critics.

chapter 11? You didn't even reach the main plot! Yuri may be "Mary Sue", but she's getting much stronger even though there are times she is beaten down with blows fate deals her (who isn't?). The evil queen, well, is evil for a reason as it turns out in the end, even though Yuri says she would still have had a choice, she just chose the wrong path.

Sometimes she annoys me too, but she can't be perfect all the time. She actually masterminds some amazing things later on.

And the prince later on wants more from here than that, plus this era is shown by the author to be generally very free with morals, as you'll find out if you read on.

Top-notch manga, everyone. READ IT. You MUST read it.
Heroine is not some stupid shoujo. At the beginning she may be considered that, but she just arrived at a brand new place in a brand new era. What else do you expect? Art is pretty good, story is awesome, characters are well-described, historical facts are accurate enough, and smut was evenly paced and not overdone (I hate that...).
I said it before, and I'll say it again. YOU MUST READ.

This manga competes with the best shoujo manga. Its length allows one to really absorb the story and plot, enjoy the character development and the romance development. All of those are really important for me!! The quality of story telling is not compromised in 28 volumes. That in itself is a great accomplishment.
I enjoyed the characters, the romance and smut content was very enjoyable as well. The story remained true to the history in the plot.
It was a very good read and I hope if you enjoy good storytelling, a good romance and a good plot, you must read this!! I really wish there were more mangas like this out there with such a mature romance, with this many volumes and such excellent plot/stortyline throughout.

This was an excellent series and I enjoyed every last volume, The ending was great as well, ok it was overly smutty but even that was ok to an extent. I don't agree with the comments saying Yuri was useless as I don't believe so, she may have been brash in her actions, but she did always have a reason!. I actually liked Ramses and secretly hoped they would actually marry, but knew it would never happen.Every character wether bad or good had a role to play and they done it well. It took me 2 days to finish 28 volumes but it was well worth it so I give this series 10/10. give it a try and if you disregard the smut if you're not into it you won't be dissapointed!.
