Switch

It starts out as fun daily life comedy manga. When the comedy seems not funny enough, it switchs to action manga. That's kinda rare, but that's good, especially for action lovers. But now, the action is not as good as before, will it switch... Again?

Starts out bad, but is great later on

Like those before me said, the beginning chapters are horrible but if you stick the first 5 or 6 volumes out it becomes awesome. I literally had to force myself to continue reading it only because the commenters said it gets better.

Because of the horrible beginning i give it a lower rating of 7.5

I know why the first few dozen chapters are getting a bad rep. Believe me! I stopped reading after the first volume and was like "where is this going?" but then I made myself pick it up again a few days later, and forced myself to read. I guess it was a little because of the humour; it really is one of the funnier mangas I read, at least in the beginning. The purpose of the earlier chapters, I thought, was to introduce the main characters and get some laughs. Yes, 5 volumes is a bit long (or was it 6?) for introducing main characters but I actually kind of enjoyed the episodic flow and light-hearted comedy. So i have to give some credit to the earlier chapters...
On the other hand, the recent chapters are fun to read (and the art is awesome!) for different reasons. Reborn! has taken a more classical shounen route. I was still confused as to where the story was going during the Rokudo Mukuro ark, but after that (whoo, go Varia! xP) Reborn easily became one of my fav shounen mangas.
SO I say read it if you haven't, hang in there if you just started, and keep reading if you are!

You guys weren't kidding when you said the first few chapters are boring.
I'm currently on Ch10 and its already a struggle just to keep reading. Normally, I would have dropped this already, but since people are saying that the story will get better later on, I'm gonna keep going.

Will return later and update this comment once I read further into the story.

As of Chapter 64, this is what I think:
1) I don't like the main character. He's a whimpy little loser with an inferiority complex. Not my kinda guy. He doesn't have any noteworthy abilities.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
His strength is dependent on the special bullet shot into his head.
Personality wise... well, he doesn't have any. I don't really mind that he doesn't have any special physical attributes, but at least have some strength of character! All he does is run away from his problems, complain about his friends, and whine about how weak and pathetic he is, which is true. He's a total wuss until reborn shoots him in the head, then suddenly he's all strong. pfft. Why is this guy even a main character?! Also, he's physically very plain...doesn't stand out at all... obviously NOT that cool looking kid on the picture up there. I'm beginning to think this is one of those manga where the main guy is an "everyman" and the action lies with the side characters. -3 point

2) The attempts at humor is very lame. I think a lot of incidents were suppose to be funny, but I could hardly even smirk at them. It's just not funny. -1 point

3) The magical bullets/weapons idea is kinda stupid. I'm all for the supernatural element, but the whole concept is very poorly developed.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Tsuna takes one shot to the head, becomes really strong, and defeats the enemy.
This plotline is used over and over and over again with little variation. VERY REPETITIVE. If the main character's strength is totally dependent on these outlandish weapons, and not on his own abilities, then isn't that pretty lame? -3 points

But, we'll see. Hopefully the idea will grow on me once the action gets going, which, so far, it hasn't. I'm only reading on because I heard that from ch100+ things will get better.

Mismatched love

If you are just starting out on this manga, for those of you that want a plotline and who also lack patience I suggest you skip the first 100 or so chapters, since they resemble nothing more than pathetic oneshots. However if you stick with this series you will be rewarded with a wonderful yet somewhat mismatch read.

Like a previous reader has already mentioned; Mafia in a futuristic military base with individuals whose powers equal that of an entire army division and yet are only concerned with their petty 'family' squabbles will leave readers in a WTF daze.

If this manga had a setting similar to Godfather then it would truly be epic. But alas Shounen can only go so far, and for this particular manga it has done quite well.

I'll admit, in the beginning things were really slow but if you manage to keep on reading you'll have a diamond in the rough. There is a plot! And it's a really really good one too xD

Still reading it, but it it's not bad. Started out with a really broken story line that simply introduced new characters than building on old ones, but I think it's taking a turn for the better. The spoiler is a link to where the fighting actually warms up. If it hadn't happened soon I was going to quit reading. No matter the story line, if the shounen lacks action it get very boring.

Worth the while to read, pick it up if you like shounens. Though I dislike the main character.

I must admit this is one of the best action manga I've read so far although it doesn't show in the earlier arc chapters. I love the the recent development of the arc, the characters and especially the the fighting scenes. Overall I enjoy it.

What I like about Reborn! is that the characters are original! (Hibari, the one who hates to work with people and beats everyone up.....Has a huge amount of school spirit!)

Reborn is also for girls(fangirls) and boys it has pretty boy art and really cool fights!

Its worth the read! It has tons of chapters you want to read over because its either funny or really cool!

the only thing about reborn! is the daily life arc takes way to long and in the future arc there isn't that much fighting just lots of explaining

It's my favorite manga so I give it a 9.5

After the "daily life" shit which take up like 60 chapter, the story been going great! I cant seem to get enough of it =3 I mean it's great the author can practically made a good plot out of nothing, Like using the 10 year bazooka to began the Future arc lol I'm like really shock and got sucked in right at that point Xp ^^
