Incredible

This is definitely my favorite manga/manhwa/webtoon that is still on going. The world SIU (the author) creates is vast yet intricate, but even more impressively, cohesive. He introduces an incredible amount of characters and detail, but still maintains focus, constantly evolving the story. Speaking of which, the plot mystifies one with its complexity and brilliance. There are so many motives and plans by different characters/groups and many interconnections between them that the anticipation to see how it all plays out is overwhelming. It's impressive how much "realism" SIU can bring to such a creative and fantasy based premise. Perhaps there is a better word than realism, but whatever the case, the world makes sense given the circumstances. It makes sense that not everyone succeeds or lives. It makes sense how the characters behave and feel given the environment. Furthermore, the character development is also top notch (especially the main). I would add more detail but this post is already too long. To finish covering the bases though, the art is very well done though not my absolute favorite style, the fighting is awesome, and the comedic elements are a nice change of pace at times. The only negatives I can think of are that it's sometimes a bit confusing considering how much is going on (and perhaps that it's translated) and some may people may want more attention around the main character. However, these are hardly significant and I recommend this manhwa over all others in a similar category.

Amazing Worldbuilding

the author seems to have a deep understanding of this huuuuge world he's created. You'll have to read translations of the blog posts on the batoto forums and at the end of some chapteres to get a feel of the scope of his planning.
I love extensive worldbuilding. bigrazz

It started a bit slow, but yesterday, I couldn't fall asleep, I got so much into it ^^
It may not be the best thing ever, but this is the FIRST MANGA IN 3 YEARS that got me so excited, so yeah, right now, this is my fav smile (It really didn't happen to me for a long time that I was actually CURIOUS about the next chapter)

In a way plot of this manga has a different feeling... it may not be completely "different" from everything else (is that even possible?) but I like the flow of the things...and frankly, I really like this type of manga.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Poor Baam in 1st part...betrayed like that! But I guess he needed it to mature... //Die Lahel, b1a7ch! Vrrrr....! Betraying such a cute thing!// I am glad she still stayed ugly in 2nd part and that Koon is always being smart and realized her lies...and I'm really curious what's going to happen when he meets "Viole"

I just hope it won't fall into some sort of stereotype, and plot keeps on evolving smile

Thrilling!

This is my first review but I actually wanted it to be a short comment. The main character is straight off mysterious but surprisingly optimistic. He's sorta like a child with his innocence of having no knowledge but that makes him special in the tower, where people will show their most selfish side. The setting and background is fantastic even though its not completely detailed, the whole thrilling part of the story is how vague and exciting it is. With this type of setup no one could ever guess what happens next. The plot itself is a mind bending setup. I mean what would you do to have any wish you wanted to be granted. To face obstacles and see yourself grow is a strong point in this series. It does get too dull at moments but it always picks up quickly. The main noticeable problem is probably the art. Feels like its just sketched and and colored at points but at least its decently colored. After reading this I knew I like webtoons/manwhas more than mangas now because the stories are so in depth and extraordinary. I wish i could wait whole months and read like 10 chapters afterwards but this makes me want to check everyday and see what happens next. Give it a try. Hopefully you wont regret it!

It's the BEST comic out right now.

This series is going to progress to be a masterpiece and if (more like when) there is an anime of it it will be a classic and one of the most popular of this generation (think Lelouch, Death Note). It's a VERY good story and the characters are VERY well developed and the author is very good at building the story at the correct pace where the story doesn't get spoiled, the world is very vast, but waiting for the ending is just excruciating even though it is so far. If this gets published into paper and sold, I will DEFINITELY buy it. The art is excellent, I'd give it a 11/10 if I could. You are a fool if you don't start reading this NOW

Best Webcomic out there? I believe so.

Like many users from this site, during the last year, I've been getting more into webcomics. At first I didn't think I'd like it very much and I was very reluctant before reading my first one. Ever since then I've read a few. It's an extraordinary type of story telling that brings some priceless gems. Tower of God, in my honest opinion, stands on top. I finished re-reading it just a bit ago, read the whole thing in half a day couldn't stop even though it was my second time reading through the scenes.

The first... hmm... Maybe 10 chapters feel a little slow, strange and fragmented. But it still doesn't take long to heat up. From those 10 chaps onward we get a steady quality rise. The characters look weird at first and don't seem very likable, but as soon as the author starts using them and mixing them with the story you'll start seeing them in a new light. It doesn't take long for you to be laughing with the characters, feeling their pain and cheering for them. They're not shallow in the slightest. Well developed and bringing forth strong and deep dialogue, the characters that once looked so strange and unrelatable are now real. Facing an overwhelming situation with emotions rising up, you can feel their struggle against something beyond their reach - beyond even their comprehension.

The action is exciting and well placed. It's not one where you get bored between battles, since you definitely won't be reading it for the action solely, but it still does not forget its exciting fighting scenes which are, almost always, mixed with interesting challenges, tests and strategies that turn simple battles into something more. The fights bear meaning and emotion. The powers and abilities are cool and Shinsoo is well introduced into the world. The positions for the battles are well thought and pretty original and just add up to the fun.

The world is amazingly well created. Talse uzer story. You can definitely tell the author spend quite a lot of time and dedication into the creation of such a wide and interesting world. This becomes more clear as the story moves along, especially when you get to the second season and read the infos about the 14 or 15 highest ranked people on the Tower. I dare say it is one of the fictional worlds with the most potential I've ever seen, I think it easily takes a spot in the top 10. I hope the author explores even more after ending ToG even if the story isn't directly connected to the events of ToG.

The art evolves. A lot. It gets much better, especially in the second season. It's still not close to being the best webcomic art out there, but it's pretty good and fits perfectly with the style of the story.

Prepare yourself for great comedy, exciting action, deep characters, unexpected twists, amazing world and non-stop entertainment. Definitely worth a read.

This is like a super epic fantasy tale, in web comic form. It starts slowly, but if you keep up and read the first season, you'll be absolutely THRILLED to read more. This comic has tens of thousands of views weekly and is the #1 rated webcomic as of now. Give it a shot and you'll probably like it.

Edit: "very overrated"? I've read hundreds of manga these past months, and I've yet to come towards anything that comes close. I might be biased, but I believe it's well worth its praise.. just don't weigh too much down on the art, it's a web toon after all. Maybe that's what makes it amazing: it's a webtoon, yet its universe and characters are insanely profound for the medium.

TL;DR: so far Tower of God hasn't disappointed. At the very least, it's an entertaining and unique read.
HIGHLY recommended.

Constant Quality

Tower of God didn't offer you tons of eye candy, a sad tear-jerking background story for every character or tons of heavy mystery. It simply offer a constant quality of story for every chapter.

To be honest, I never think of ToG as "the best", neither it was my most favorite. It just that, unlike other webtoon or manga that have some chapter that made me think "...That's it?" "The author dragging it for way too long" or other things that made you disappointed, ToG always able to offer something that made you interested enough to follow the next chapter. -Something that (sadly) even my favorite webtoon/manga fail to offer.

So, is ToG way to overrated? Maybe some people think that way, but for me, ToG worth the > 9 rating.

Very Good but also very overrated

For now the series is very solid, and also entertaining, but nowhere near great. The part 1 was like a big setup, and put a good platform for part 2. So, part 1 was very entertaining, but not really that great for a perfect score.

All in all, this is a very good series with a lot of potential to be great.

...and that comes from someone who read more than 200 manga/manhwa from beginning to end.

This manhwa stands at the current pinnacle of manga/manhwa evolution.
The author carefully analyzed the ingredients to the most entertaining manga/manhwa, and managed to put them together into a single package.

I only recommend manga/manhwa which I rated 90% or higher to other people, and I only label ones which I rated above 97% as a must-read.
So far, only 2 fell into the latter category, now there are 3, with TOG taking the highest rating of all manga/manhwa I've ever read.
