Kohei Kotani, an editor at the major publishing company Dankosha, is assigned to cover a feature on elementary school entrance exams, known in Japan as ojuken.

A graduate of an unremarkable university, Kohei once struggled to find stable employment. Through persistence as a part-time worker at Dankosha—handling menial tasks for years—he finally earned a position as a contract editor.

Perhaps because of this, he’s grown weary of his highly educated coworkers’ constant bragging about their academic backgrounds, and he holds a negative view toward the whole “exam-obsessed” culture.

However, one day, a major incident occurs—one that will completely change Kohei’s views on parenting and education...!
