The first few chapters were a little rough but before you know it you really get drawn into the plot! Doesn't hurt that the art is beautiful. Do heed the TW from the previous comment (self-harm, suicide and bullying.)
TW: self-harm, suicide and bullying.
I always stunned over samamiya's art so I give this one a try. It was really good especially focused on 3 main characters who's literally struggling in the environment they don't feel fit in. There's also mystery on Sakura's side as well since she had been kept her conflict by herself with someone who used to be her friends. But also a development relationship between Aoi & Minatsuki. Give this one a try!
The story is really interesting and I love the way there are 3 main protagonists who are linked together. Every chapter has me feeling so bad for Aoi, the poor boy deserves the world :’)
Aoi and minatsuki working together is so sweet I love how slowly Aoi is opening up and together they’re both developing. As for Sakura, so far up to ch 13 I haven’t seen much of her POV but her character really frustrates me though aoi’s pov of her but it’s exciting slowly finding out what she’s doing with aoi’s body.
This manga is a little bit complicated as it deals with a lot of things regarding identity, gender, mental health, social relationship, psychology, romance and some others all-at-once.
I'm not sure... Personally, I would advocate for the main characters being in love with one another in their true selves (subjected to personal definition) instead of in someone else's skins. However, at this point (volume 4), I gradually see this more as an analogy for transgenderism instead?
That can be controversial and too complex a topic. Moreover, some of the serious issues and major plot lines were somewhat glossed over. (For example, I see Aoi dealing with and telling his high school bully and tormentor off as too easy-peasy.)
The art is very easy on the eyes. The story is not too shabby either. I'll see how it goes.
Reading this feels like a disjointed stream of thought. Then again, I get that often with shoujo mangoes but this one kinda takes it to the extreme. Maybe it's to create a "psychological" "aesthetic" "mesmerizing" tension effect but it feels subpar in the shallow way.
It really has a slew of those creepy "BIG IKEMEN" vibes that well, if you're not into it, you'd be grossed out.
It does have an interesting plot and I'm curious to see how things develop, so the author's got that one down. Maybe the vibes it aims for isn't just for me.
