MC (Chen Mo) has society anxiety, although the reason behind it wasn't explored. The story hints that it might have something to do with his mother, but it was not stated explicitly. Hence, we have no idea what happened.
The story shines in a way that has other characters, especially the MC's brother recognise the difficulty of suffering social anxiety. Chen Ye is always protective of MC's mental state and is always understanding of his circumstances. While the other characters - Qi Yi Cheng and Xu Ke Ke were overly pushy at the start, they slowly grew to understand his boundaries (although they could still have been less pushy at the start and later on) which I find was really refreshing. At the end, I liked how MC was still suffering from social anxiety - it afflicted him since childhood and is not that easily resolved - although he was slightly better as a result of his friendships.
I also like that there is no romance going on between the characters, although it would probably happen if the story was longer (Xu Keke and Chen Mo, Lulu and blondie, and Chen Ye and his stalker classmate). Ideally, I wish for them to still remain friends rather than shifting into a romantic focus. Regardless, the story itself focuses more (97%) on friendship/brotherly love than romance which was a nice aspect.
In conclusion, I think that Chen Mo still needs therapy or something, but it is still really refreshing to see a story about mental illness where the MC doesn't miraculously recover just because a romantic interest spews some caring words. Yes, caring words are needed but it will never be resolved as simply as how some other stories portray it. As someone who has suffered from mental illness for many years, I feel like rolling my eyes whenever other stories portray it as something so easily resolved.
Also, it would be more fun to see more scenes with the blondie and the MC as his screentime suddenly went down considerably halfway through despite being one of MC's new friends.
