The characters are the only real saving grace in this story, they are interesting, likeable and reasonably realistic. The plot is un even and I suspect poorly translated in places, there is a huge gap, probably a full chapter, in the plot between chapters 4 and 5, one page they're running away and the next the lead character is getting a beating and making a deal to become a servant.
The story-line and the delivery of the story-line are the two most important things when trying to make a manga interesting. But we as readers usually don't get the better of both worlds. For most cases, we can only choose one. Personally, I would rather read a manga with good delivery than a manga with a creative story-line. The story-line of I-Ren isn't something that can turn your head or make you look twice. What makes I-Ren a good manga is its delivery. You can actually see how the characters grow and change as the story progress. How each character act and feel when face with the events unfold within the story. Unlike most manga, I-Ren's characters are able to change and grow.
Though I have read better manga, I will still have to praise I-Ren for its extraordinary delivery of the character, story-line, and art style.

Reminded me a little bit of Bride of the Water God. But with less drama and some shounen ai! The story was fairly good. There is actually quite a bit of supernatural things going around half way through the book. The characters all have some secrets that I would never would have thought of. But it was a bit predictable.
In the beginning I was interested in the secret behind Kiran. Somehow when I found out, it was a bit of a let down. It might be because I have read some many stories with similar plots. I did however enjoy reading this story.
Not sure when they will finish translating into English. Only up to volume 2 and there is a large chunk missing in the latest update.

This book is seriously underrated 
It's very nice and the plot is funny. I love the characters very much. Granted that is book is only beginning and the series is new so i cannot say much about it just yet. But so far I think it's really worth the read and I hope this is translated in English. As for the art it is very pretty and the character as beautiful.
