Description

Shizuku is a shy girl who hardly talks to other people. Instead, she loses herself in creative writing, crafting a novel that she never plans to show anyone. But when Kaori--Shizuku's cute, popular classmate--gets her hands on Shizuku's manuscript, everything changes. Kaori is a huge fan, and suggests that Shizuku can get inspiration for her writing if the two of them start dating! Can these very different young ladies create their own love story together?

I don't agree with this just being a tearjerker and having a sad ending just to make you cry. It's a story about death, love, and forgiveness. It tells us how although Kaori doesn't want to die, she dies content and she dies filled with love. She managed to ensure that both Shiori and Shizuku would be able to move on, and she did her best to try and heal Ruri. She was able to do something before she died that would leave a lasting impact, and that's something that hits home to me. Although it may seem small, healing just 2 lives is something amazing and so hard to do. And I guess I needed to see that too.

Shizuku's struggle also hits home. Realizing that forgiveness isn't owed to you is ridiculously hard, atleast for me. And so is forgiving yourself and trying to do better.

Really lovely story and characters.

im surprised the comments bellow me are lukewarm/negative

perhaps im biased because i can see myself (too much) in Shizuku and, later, Kaori. so it made me cry. the message(s) the manga wants to convey are very great, however it may have caused the writing to be more Telling than Showing at times. but since ive experienced the things that happened in the story, its like... man, that hits hard.

i disagree to this just being a tearjerker terminally ill lover thing. or that its just a sad ending for the sake of being sad.

from the start of the story, its focus are very clear.

ending one's life, death, guilt, farewells, and dealing with them.

its not out of nowhere, you know. its always been there throughout chapter one to chapter end. and, if its just dark for the sake of being dark, it would not have hit as much as it did to who the story's directed to--the people who struggles same way as the characters there.

the story makes the audience wallow in their feelings, before showing "hope". to have a conclusion, or at least to get better from those struggles. though again, the focus on getting the message across maybe made it feel as if the author is straight up just telling us instead of making the readers find out themselves (hence the "lines of text" comment below me, i agree)

if you cannot relate to the message since the start, it wont hit the same impact as people who does did. its like a iykyk thing.

so subjectively, I really enjoyed reading this, I got something out of it. but objectively i can see some technical issues and understand if people dont like it. its either a really good hit or a really bad miss for you, depending on the person.

If you're thinking about diving into this manga, here's a heads-up: it's a total emotional wrecking ball. Honestly, it feels like it was made for those who enjoy getting abused. The ending? Brutal, and not in a good way. It's like the creators went out of their way to make sure you'd end up feeling down. From my side, consider this a warning rather than a recommendation. Unless you're into that kind of masochistic experience, you might want to steer clear. Trust me, there are plenty of other manga out there that won't leave you feeling like you've been through the wringer.

good story

This story is more shoujo-ai than yuri. I think it definitely holds as slice of life and definitely portrays two teenagers. I really like Shizuku's development and the way Kaori challenges her to face her fears. There is definitely foreshadowing of what's the come. It's a good story with nice pacing. I wish we could get to know Kaori better than from just Shizuku's perceptive.

The art is great, but the rest of it... Shizuku's growth and personal story was really interesting, too bad it was eclipsed by the cliche "terminal illness death" trope. Even in the very end, she was overshadowed by Kaori and everything about her "mysterious past", all explained via lines of text with a vague hopeful end, bummer. I think it would be more effective binge reading the series, but honestly you've read something like this a hundred times already, I'm not sure if the interesting bits are really worth it.

Beware bad ending by the death of FMC

thankfully I dropped this manga once it's revealed that Kaori have terminal illness.
and knowing the ending I feel so happy I dropped this earlier.

This series is good but I already fed up with any tear-jerker with death as the conclusion
