Early afternoon on a certain summer day, Mieko, a resident on the fourth floor of a condominium, is in the middle of airing her laundry on the balcony when she accidentally drops one of her gloves. A resident on the first floor immediately went to retrieve it, and when she rang their doorbell, the one who showed up was a young boy who was out of breath.
