Good concept, poor execution.

The female lead is immature and emotionally manipulative. She shames the ml for trying to shoulder his illness alone and requesting she doesn't contact him anymore, meanwhile she hasn't mentioned her own illness at all and claims that she should be allowed to love him if she wants too regardless of his own feelings on the matter.

I like the story for where it goes and how it meditates on death, but the path there is unpleasant in a way it didn't really need to be. Not unpleasant in that they were speaking about death... Just poor character writing.

I also don't really see any benefit to this story being an age gap teacher & student relationship. The school setting is dropped immediately and the age thing just seems like an excuse for the fl to act like a brat. I'd rather it were just two adults.

I thought the story portrayed a topic that is relevant to and weighs heavily on many (if not all) of us in a beautiful manner. It's easy to take a nihilistic approach towards life and be miserable when faced with its ephemerality, but the manga illustrates how we may want to think about that sad fact in a different light.

I've finished this a couple of weeks ago and have been putting off writing a review because I don't know if I can write one that can describe how great it is. Anyway, this review is gonna be a long one.

First of all, this story definitely deserves to be labeled as a tragedy because the story's description itself already mentioned that our protagonist has a life-threatening condition.

Early on, we are shown that Ichika feels that there's no meaning to her life and the one person who managed to give her a purpose had suddenly disappeared.

So, when she accidentally bumped into that person, her ex-lecturer, Yurugi, we can see how desperate she became to have more of a connection with him. Soon after, the author reveals the reason why Yurugi had suddenly quit his job.

I won't mention the reason because it'll definitely spoil the story. I really suggest reading it to find out.

I don't know how many times I cried reading this because to me, the characters' desperation, sadness, regrets and hope were depicted really well by the author.

When we get to the scene where the desire to not die was expressed so strongly, it was just 😭 Their limited time spent together were really bittersweet. I can't imagine knowing that I don't have much time left to live and I appreciate how they did hurtful things, even though they didn't want to, just because they believe that it is better for the other person.

I think the author did a great job with this story. The art isn't exactly great but I really like her two-page spreads.

Anyway, this is a great story if you need something to make you cry. It is finally getting a well-deserved physical print and I think it deserves to be translated to English as well.
