Are you freaking kidding me?

this manga sucks, just read it.
the only good thing is the art style cause is wonderful.

But this about an uke with no self-esteem or courage, who's in love with a jerk "the seme" and a seme "the jerk" who's sleeps with all the uke's ex-girlfriends just because he's in love with the uke and he wants to show him his feelings. Isn't this romantic?
Yeah, this is the best manga ever. I haven't read a plot so good as this, I'm actually crying cause this a masterpiece.

Omg I can't believe the ratings. Wtf ? The romance is complete bs.
No seriously, how ridiculous can it get ??
I hate this kind of so-called drama when it's just those stupid "im gonna test your feelings" things. Ugh.
And worst of all : the way their physical relationship started. It felt so unnatural I actually laughed when I read it. And the angst was truly pathetic.
I don't know how I can explain but one thing for sure : it's certainly not what it pretends to be.

In the same concept I think Oko-sama box was better (even if it kinda started the same way).

My heart is heartbroken

This is a story of love, pure and painful love. I came to it without expecting anything, barely aware of the plot, and now I'm aching for more. At the very end of chapter 7, my heart literally skipped a bit. I felt so lonely when it was over, I had to re-read it. I just hope Takamiya-sensei is resuming her work here. Such a beautiful, precious thing cannot end like this. And Masato and Kaoru deserve so much more attention.

I read this almost everyday. Very beautiful and on my top TOP yaoi list.

This lovely story is way too precious to be on an average list or be called mediocre. First of all, can I say I get very emotional whenever I read this and not a lot of yaoi mangas do that for me. There is something very special about Silence and it is hard to explain everything the way it deserves to be explained.

What I can say is that I find the love story very beautiful. Masato is very much in love with Kaoru and I just want them to end up together. They way they touch each other is so tantalizing and I can feel it through the pages. I can feel how Masato feels by the way he touches Kaoru. Sensei created a work of art.

This is a beautiful manga.

i have to agree with the person who said this manga wasn't all that, after reading all the other reviews i was expecting something amazing. maybe its because i read this in the early hours of the morning but it wasn't that great. the art was light and fluffy but its not expressive. the story however isn't heart wrenching or anything and im the sort that would cry at a drop of a hat. i'd call this story mellow, it would not go on my top hundred yaoi list.

TOP 10

I read this for the first time YEARS ago. Since then, I keep re-reading it periodically, every time I come to check if there's finally more. And there never is. That's why I'm not sure if I should recommend it or not. You should probably wait until it's complete, or you'll be frustrated like I always am.

However, this is an amazing manga, probably one of the best I've read. Always dramatic, full of angst, and it makes me cry my heart out. If you like painful plots, there goes one: a beautiful story about two people who love each other but can never say it and slowly get tore apart. They don't understand each other, so they can never move further.

Masato (the seme) doesn't know how to get Kaoru's attention and decides to hurt him over and over again. It's cruel, sad and desperate. He doesn't know what the uke is thinking, so he tries to make Kaoru hate him. Then at least he'd feel something. All Masato wants to do is see Kaoru smile, and yet he's the reason for his tears.
At the same time, though he never says it out loud, Kaoru struggles with pain, thinking Masato really doesn't care about him. He is so pitiful you’ll just want to reach out and hug him.
That is how well done this manga is. They don't even need to speak much to have such strong personalities. They are almost like real people, with vulnerabilities, reasons, fears and confusion.

The art is also gorgeous, which makes every expression believable. Kaoru's face is so desolate it will get you heartbroken just by looking at it.

I think what I like the most about this manga, though I love everything, is how every detail is planned. Even Masato leaving right after he has sex with Kaoru, every time, is such an important detail to their relationship and the development of Kaoru's feelings towards him.
Or when Kaoru gets startled and end up breaking the most important symbol of their relationship: the ashtray.

Oh, and I can't even begin to describe how this manga will make you feel that clutch in the stomach. It's so subtle, but so intense and strong! It will send you into a turmoil of emotions like you’ve never felt before. Even the order of events in the story is amazingly planned. Chapter 04 comes in handy for just a glimpse of happiness when the previous chapters are about to send you to the bottom of hell, then it gets you back there with chapters 05 and so. Like the categories describe, it is full of misunderstandings...the words they say to each other keep pushing them apart, unintentionally. Like Masato saying their sexual relationship would be "only for now".

As always, it stopped at a cliffhanger – more like the climax, this time. I hate how it stopped. And for almost two years now. Hope it gets finished someday...

PS: Oh, is it just me or Ishida seems to support them? Hehe =P

Maybe I'm missing some deep meaning here, but I don't think this manga's as awesome as all the other reviews say. In fact, it's pretty mediocre.

Repressed emotions = botox treated facial expressions. The artistic style is ok, but it all looks very mechanical, and as much as the author tries to build some sense of deep sadness to justify the somber, silent (alright I'll give it that) relationship, the whole thing just seems bland.

It's not that I'm biased against angsty manga. I just like some actual substance. I give it a seven for a likable main character, its little quirks, the art, and cause I think my (coincidental) depressed mood is making me enjoy bashing Silence more than usual. I've definitely seen worse.
