Deus ex machina galore
by Samken
February 7th, 2021, 8:58pm
Rating: 3.0  / 10.0
This is in general pretty bad, the pacing is horrible, MC goes from extremely weak to extremely strong in the blink of an eye, he's also exceedingly idealistic for the position he ends up obtaining, and he considers none of the consequences for the people under him and makes a ton of utopian and naive decisions but surprise surprise, plot armour kicks in and everything works out somehow.

Some characters are overly "Edgy" as well, especially one who ends up being" too attached" to the MC, also in one way or another he ends with an insane amount of rare and precious treasures, so much that he turns to share it to everyone under his banner, so conflicts devolve into basically who can pull out more treasures over the other.

Your brain cells will die reading this manga

Believe me and don't put yourself through the pain of reading this utter trash. The fact that this has 7+ rating is absolutely mind boggling to me.

The story is random as plot jumps here and there without any proper flow. Character development is non existent. Cultivation levels absolutely make no sense. Every character says MC is smart but I assure you that his IQ doesn't even exceed the room temperature you're in.

I've been lurking in this site for some time now and I never write reviews because I don't think I'm qualified to do so because my creativity is as good as a random rock, but this manga made me so frustrated that I just had to vent it.

Fairly interesting

This is a genre piece so it certainly treads some common ground. But beyond that it's interesting enough in that it addresses the societal problems that all these cultivation novels generally ignore. The protagonist actually realises and works to change the inequitable status of society, not just for his clan but for anyone within his influence. I really can't agree with comments saying that the story doesnt make sense or that the protagonists actions are inconsistent. The protagonists goals and character have been consistent since the beginning and remain so to the current point (chapter 313). They arguably might not be the brightest but they are interesting which is what matters for a fictional character. Some reviewers seem to be confusing disliking the protagonists sense of values with him being poorly written.

In summation, it is yet another cultivation piece and is very formulaic which holds it back. But within that niche it has enough novel elements to keep it interesting.

Down the hill...

Maybe a hill was too tall of a start, it's pretty much as @Meow-kun and @ladyknight1998 say, this one starts of quite generic and stays that way, the MC is a decent guy that fights for his clan and everything just develops for his benefit for one dumb reason or another, which is disappointingly common in the genre, but where many use some kind of plot tool to justify it (reincarnation, time travel, isekai, etc.) this one just blehs it, the story starts of somewhat well with him striving to solve his family's problems as a retainer of a big corrupt family that exploits them. Unfortunately once that's resolved the story goes from decent to bad to very bad and very fast.
By now (275ch in) the story is very boring, it's not clear what the MC's goals are and he's becoming a joke with him becoming Mother Theresa of Calcutta
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
he'd go to war and risk being exterminated because he doesn't want to betray the trust of a runt he doesn't even know and more crap like that. He also risks his life for people he barely know for no reason and survive only because he's the MC, starts gifting incredibly expensive stuff just because... and becomes sworn brother with people because they annoy him to dead. Not to mention falling for a girl for no reason, not fallen for another that he has all reason to fall for, pretty much ignoring his "loved one's" disappearance or at least, do nothing to try to find her, and so on and so forth

The story no longer makes much sense and the MC actions seam all over the place completely lacking consistency.
To think the author pretty much gave up on Tales of Gods and Demons for this crap, fortunately(?) he had already abandoned another series so he can't antagonize the fans again dropping another series.

Classic Manhua
by Mangazuki.me
October 8th, 2018, 5:16pm
Rating: 8.0  / 10.0
This manhua seemed nothing special in the beginning. It started off pretty simple but as it progressed it became more and more intense. After like 100 chapters, Star Martial God Technique became a manhua that completely got me HOOKED!
It has some really likable characters that you just can't dislike. The overall feel of the manga is very generic but it moves like a rabbit. Pretty fast I mean.

Anyway, I read Star Martial God Technique just to pass some time but it turned out to be more than just a normal manhua.

I really like these kinds of manga tbh majorly because of the way the story and the plot develops makes it even better and more enjoyable for the audience.

Just gets worse
by ladyknight1998
November 6th, 2017, 4:10pm
Rating: 5.0  / 10.0
The story started off with a generic beginning, opening up with an underdog that has immense talent and hidden power. I still wanted to give it a chance and 75 chapter later I just could not do it.

It does not get better, in fact, it gets worse as the story progresses, with a typical shounen plot and an annoying harem. The MC has a case of superhero syndrome in that he has to protect everyone (even his enemies that killed countless innocent people) and it becomes stale pretty quickly. It lacks originality and good pacing, just a soup of tropes all in one. It is a shame seeing as the author also wrote Tales of Demons and Gods, which is done in a superior fashion.

Deus ex machina dialed to 11
by Meow-kun
March 27th, 2017, 12:13am
Rating: 4.0  / 10.0
Protagonist starts off as the weakest person but inexplicably has a vision before the entrance exam and now he can do/learn everything faster than anyone. Any problems that occur gets solved by this 'mysterious' power literally because it can.

Eample:
"The enemy has a gun and is about to shoot me! What do I do!?"
"What's this? My Power gives me the ability to make my body impervious to damage? Alright!"

Go read Tales of Demons and Gods by the same author, it does a similar thing but better.

Dropped after chapter 57 due to how much useless talking there is.
