Burdened by the debt left by her deceased parents and a young sibling she must care for, Louise lives diligently, never losing her warm heart despite her difficult circumstances.

One day, her troublemaking older brother, little better than a good-for-nothing idler, unilaterally informs her about a marriage arrangement. Having gambled away the money meant for the marriage tax, he boasts that he will pay it off using the bride's choyakwon (right of the first night) instead... To protect his own lover (the intended bride), he pressures Louise to go in her place.
