A beautiful and cruel fairy tale about two boys, Gigi and Kiki.
A magnificent comic adaptation of Hori Tatsuo's literary masterpiece, Habataki Ein Märchen.
1 Volume (Complete)

Habataki Ein Marchen is such an odd story, I can never quite understand how it came to be. A beautiful boy with mother complex isolates himself from the world to commit crimes with birds, dressing up as a girl and falling into despair. It's a dark phantasmagoric little treasure and Hatoyama was meant to adapt it. The manga is completely accurate to the original story with the text being taken directly from the source, yet it never feels dry. Every moment is capitalized upon with her stunning, twisty art. Shattered glass, abyssal darkness, sparkles, blood and birds taking flight! I had to stop and stare at some of the spreads, they capture the chaos and magic so well.
If you're a fan of turn-of-the-century, kinda gay dark fairytales, you'll get a kick out of this. This really feels like the complete form of the classic story.
