i feel compelled to vouch this manga because i know a lot of readers won't give it a chance bc of all it's red flags and emotionally difficult content. for certain, it is not for everyone--it's dark, disturbing, and utterly tragic.

it's not immediately apparent how well written the plot and development is and a lot of readers are going to be immediately disturbed by the opening chapters, but it does really follow through if you keep going through the later chapters. if you are one who wants to reader tragedy on the level of something like oyasumi punpun or blood on the tracks, i wouldn't say it's at the level of brilliance, and the artwork is just middling, but it's hard to find tragic gems as well written as this, and well worth the read for 26 chapters.

Dark & Disturbing but also Soul Crushing

This story starts out rather disturbing and dark, transitions into something that can make you really feel for the MC's, and then crushes your soul to it's very core. I can't remember a time when an ending made me so upset... There was a lot of bad things about this story but that's kind of the point. I just can't handle endings such as this...

Kitanai Kimi ga Ichiban Kawaii is, daresay, pretty dang good – and I did not think I’d ever write that.

I completely understand if you dropped it within the first ten chapters, it being an absolutely disgusting and uncomfortable read. I myself originally dropped it after chapter 1 (twice!), then chapter 6, but eventually stuck with it once chapter 10 and onwards were released. Mainly because, like a certain other character in this manga, I like watching trainwrecks as they unfold. And after chapter 10, it showed real potential and delivered.

Unfortunately, despite my eventual enjoyment of this manga, I very much hesitate to recommend it. If you can stomach its even more unfortunate beginning, you’re rewarded with a highly compelling, visually stunning psychological drama about two girls in a very toxic, very abusive and very codependent relationship. On the other hand, you have to read weird baby stuff to get to that point, and I wouldn’t wish that on even my worst enemy.

Hands down one of the best yuri manga I've ever read. I've gotten TIRED of all the boring fluff, everything just felt so repetitive and PREDICTABLE. so this defiantly was a breath of fresh air for me 😊. It was interesting from the get go WITH THE BSDM. it was pretty hot ngl.

Anyways, everything was going great until the side character got introduced 😒.

there was a scene in the manga where the mc became a shut in and the side character(ichika) is like this psychopathic person always trying to seek anything that would give her thrills. So she DECIDE to manipulate MC into letting her (ichika) into MC's house and place a camera, which is fine BUT SOMEHOW DOESN'T NOTICE THE CAMERA FML PLACED IN THE ROOM B4 HER, THE PERSON WAS LITTERLY INFRONT OF FML CAMERA TALK ABT PLOT ARMOR. idk how MC also didn't see the cameras from how the manga showed the camera it looked to be in literally plain site but whatever.

Things ended a bit iffy, but not an ending I would change really. It was a fitting end for a manga like this. Maybe it's depressing but at least it's not boring 😎

Will remember this manga 'till the day I die.

Be forewarned this is not your typical happy ending manga, not even happy any time manga. There is no redemption, no life lesson, no feel good moment. It tries to pull on your heart strings but falls short as it goes deeper and deeper into a depressing picturization of the two main girl's relationship and their twisted co-dependence. I would not call this love but more a distorted self-destructive need of the other person.

I was honestly quite surprised how good this was, and I didn't even really hate when they introduced the side character involvement/stories, because it was done pretty ok and integrated with the story really well afterwards.

If you into psychology romance that isn't short (& it even doesn't shy away from realistical nudity) you will like this.
