Description
In a town with nothing, in the middle of a daily life with seemingly no signs of change, high schooler Reiji Kurose was "just" living.

Family, dreams for the future, childhood friends.

All of them were binding him down to that city. He thought he would "just" keep on living like that.

Until he met her.

Is there hope in living? Is there light waiting ahead? It's the start of a boy meets girl series which reflects the "now".

93 chapters later, i've come to a conclusion:
Comparing this one with Oyasumi Punpun (one of my favorites) This manga is overall good, drama is good, psychological plot is good, story telling is good enough... But then, theres only one issue, a big concern; CHARACTERS, they just feel surreal, artificial, cosmetic, some MCs are just plain, with no perks, no personalities afar from what is strictly required for plot's sake.
Literally speaking, there's only one character I can sympathize with, and it's just a secondary one.
This writter just doesn't know how to use his own characters, he keeps draging them all around, just so filling the gaps in the plot. I don't even care for them at this point, i just want to know if anyone is going to **** at the very end .
Oyasumi Punpun was way better in that regard.
Postdata: (Nozoe, the novelist, he is the only one character that seems like a real person, dealing with his problems like a real person would do, the rest of the characters are just insufferables drama queens or injustificables traumatized teenagers)

To the people who say that this series is trash while only reading the first few chapters, either read more of the manga or don't express your opinion, your comment cannot be valid as you have only read the first few chapters.

At the start I was thinking what the hell is this about but as the series went on I just got hooked not I cannot wait for the next week for the new chapter to come out, this story is really intriguing on how Reiji will end up and if he will in the end commit a lovers suicide with Nagi. I wake up every morning to think how this is going to end.

There's supposed to be a yandere-type character in this apparently? I wouldn't know since I only made it five chapters in and I'm not going further than that. All I got instead was cheap misery porn. Think I'd rather lobotomize myself than keep reading. Thanks for the recommendation yandere resources.

Welp they went and made everyones favorite chubby girl in this lose weight. Its really unenjoyable now like I know its a drama but this just feels like a spit in peoples faces to cause a reaction and that sucks. No girl is aloud to stay chubby in any mangas anymore I swear. 🙁 0/10 I am so discouraged anymore.

I feel like this manga only uses depression and suicidal themes to make this manga seem different. I personally don't feel any weight to those themes; it's there just for the sake of it, just for the sake of dramatics.

I think of it like this: pull out the depression/suicidal, it'll be just your regular ol' harem, borderline H manga.

Edgy for edgy sake

Himegoto: Juukyuusai no Seifuku is quite possibly my favorite manga and everything this author has done since then has just been so disappointing.

I am forever waiting for this manga to accrue some substance.. the routine dark&edgy twists are becoming so predictable that it likens A Series of Unfortunate Events without the earned emotional investment. It has/had potential, but it's really difficult for me to see past the forcedly dramatic nature of the story telling.

A darker more fucked up FLCL with Japanese social commentary.

Themes include not being able to escape or ditch your origins or identity, the right of choice of the individual vs the choice and bond of your family (think the burden of debt or how an entire family can be labeled as criminals even if only one member commits a crime in Japan) and how being passive and going with the flow results in unhappiness and how a sacrificial nature can be damaging.

It's a story of how there is more than one perspective to someone's plight and how the dark choices we make can affect others. Its also shows how adults are flawed and how the real world can overwhelm them by becoming passive in their way of life by never branching out of the views they keep to. But honestly all these characters need someone in their life to call them out on their choices.

I will say that characters are frustrating (Especially MC who just tries to please everyone but himself resulting in major shake ups to the status quo.) but also make sense given the levels of abuse they all go through but the drama kept my invested, even if the writing is inconsistent. What I mean by this is that the characters are wishy-washy and change thier minds a lot (Except for Gen.) but it's realistic because that's how people are.

Seems like it's turning into a harem with a dark twist. Very interesting but read only if your heart can handle it. It's very gut wretching to read sometimes.

For Those Who Want Something Unique

This manga is profoundly heartfelt with sympathetic characters and a good art style and sense of theme. You'll realize that not everything is so one-sided and that sometimes life can get at even the best or most successful of us. Even though it's only the first 8 chapters, the storytelling and concept so far is comparable to literature. I hope the mangaka continues and doesn't cut corners. I don't normally judge things until I see the full picture or stop reading, but it's absolutely incredible
