Those stories were cute and with that pretty art even cuter. I had a lot of fun. I don't think this work is messy. Characters are complex and likeable, also delivery is nice but it's not a typical storytelling, in a good way of course. Mangaka used many elements of construction of the story known from literature - I mean from ordinary paper books. Every story starts in the middle of characters' life, then there are flashbacks - so we are able to know the background, then there are some obstacles to overcome, turning point, culmination and more or less open ending. I'm trying to say it's not a flat, simple story for simpletons, that goes according to passing time. The author used retrospection and a bunch of other authors' tricks like turning points, changes of pace etc. Characters are adults, around 30, it's not a teenage love themed story, so be aware.
You know, honestly, sometimes I wonder what's the age of reviewers leaving comments here, and if they read normal books in real life, not only comic books... I don't intend to be mean, or to look down on others, but I just can't relate to people getting confused over a little bit of thinking. I'd be bored to death if I had everything served on a silver plate... and yes, I recall mangas where the author explained every single action of characters. It was hell. Well anyway it's a good manga, it's not perfect but it's definitely above average.
I did like those one-shots, they were really good. On the other hand it's a pity they are one shots, cause each story and each couple deserves a whole manga only about them. I would like to know more about them.
