I like this, a Fresh Story from GATE korean genre

But its been one year, do anyone have news, when season 2 started

Honestly I'm really glad to find a different take on the gate idea. the main character is a bit self-interested but not to the point where they are unlikeable or ununderstandable

It’s a good story, honestly (read until the end of season 1), I do recommend it, it has really good world building, and explains common tropes, go read it 👍

Monsters come to earth. Not 5 years ago, not 100 years ago, but the gate opens right now. This is not a story about a random teen getting instant superpowers and 'slowly' becoming a god. Rather it is a fairly realistic scenario involving politics and the military. So far it's pretty good.

An in depth take into the "portals open in earth" kind of setting. While most manhwa get over with the holocaust and the first few years after it in a couple of chapters to get into the meat of the guilds and a BS society where players are the new cream of the crop, this manhwa chose to slowly go through that tumultuous time period in great detail. So far, 21chs, it's been the story of a civil servant that starts his politician's career in the same day of the portals open, how he struggles to survive and how his analytical and self-serving mind struggles with rare spouts of empathy with fellow people trying to survive, this part is a bit overblown imo since the monsters are so ubiquitous and persistent that it's a surprise anyone survives at all. Also, as the name implies, it centers on the government's role and reaction to the crisis. It will be interesting to see how far it will go since the long term goal of the story in note clear, by a long shot.
The characters are interesting and realistic, the MC is a bit too detached emotionally imo, but he's who he is. All the secondary cast is also interesting, mainly his "mentor" and the chief military guy and their schemes.
Pace can be a bit slow but there's always something happening so it's fine. Art is ok, not particularly good for manhwa but it's fine. Dialogues are interesting and meaningful when needed.
Overall, it's an interesting read an a change to the copy paste I'm used to in the setting while still using the same story frame. It's a bit soon to tell for the story and there isn't anything particularly great about it (nor bad), so it's ok so far but not great, time will tell.
