Why are the ratings so high

Wow that felt like 3 whole volumes of the average soap opera for middle-aged housewives you can find broadcasted on tv every afternoon; that's how cliched and uninspiring it was from start to finish. I did not come to care for a single character and the over-the-top dramatics just turned me off completely from sympathising with any of them, even though unrequited love is like my favourite trope ever in fiction. The main character alone is unbearably wishy-washy like your typical damsel in distress with absolutely no merits whatsoever; it's just hard to make a great story when its hero is so bland and unlikeable like that, you know? And it's not like this mangaka is an amazing writer to begin with; it's really no wonder that the end product turned out so cheesy and sloppy. Also, I personally am not a fan of this rigid-but-tries-way-too-hard-to-be-expressive art style. It just looks awkward most of the time.

LOL; A Jumbled Mess

While this manga is definitely funny at some point, and I gotta this the mangaka points for that, for me it’s the failure of taking this manga serious enough that actually makes me laugh. Everything single thing that happens is so ... outlandishly cliched and contradictory. It feels like I am reading the same story drawn by several different people who had to guess what the other will draw. It's all over the place. And it is not just the characterizations but their past and the world building as well. During the first chapter I kept on checking if it really was the first chapter or not; it was so disconnected. And then later I wondered if I had accidently missed a chapter or two in between.
Mind you the art is nice though.
So, I find it in bad in the way that it completely fails to live up to its potential. It's not horrible. Just jumbled.

Not bad for a Shounen Ai

I tend to prefer Yaoi over Shounen Ai because I like the more explicit love scenes ... but I gave this a shot anyways.

If it wasn't for all the crying I would have liked this better. The first scene when someone cried helped convoy the emotions very nicely, but after a while I started thinking "Geez, more tears".
I thought the characters had their expressions drawn nicely. I found myself just staring at the pictures absorbing the scene.

Not the best story I've read, but not the worst. I give this a slightly better than average rating because how I had to slowly absorbed the pages at points, and how I'm not upset over a lack of a steamy scene. ( I mean there were no steamy scenes, but it didn't bother me this time.)

Disappointed...

Mangaka just drag the whole situations and not do very well too.It is frustrating. We have so much characters and their situations not so openly showed.Protagonist says i love guy A and another page he says i love guy B.He is crybaby,so indecisive, changeable, has an ambivalent attitude. He cant think too much of important things but got a lot of thoughts about ridiculous things. He is really frustrating.

On the other hand main seme guy is frustrating too.He can't see anything and not honest at all like mangaka describes. He is just selfish, cruel and idiot i think. Not an idiot but carefree, unkind, airhead, unconcerned.I didnt like the rest of the characters too non of them are bad people or anything but i think mangaka just doesnt care about how the describe this characters. It seem like they are just toys for main guys will get together.About anzai and kitahara these characters are really uncertain and not have self-confident.I understand kitahara's situation but anzai just wanna push him away to somebody.I think he really doesnt love kitahara he is like 'oh this man will do he is gentle and good.He can make Kitahara happy. If he couldnt love him i will...' You will haha thanks.I dont understand what was it?It is laughable and not earnest. Is he really love Kitahara. You would think that.

So characters and story are so shallow. You like oh art is good .characters are average this manga is good -on the surface-. But when you think deeply you can understand story and character design are silly.

I really got bored middle of vol 2.Cuz too much drama for nothing .I mean they are adults lawyer and prosecutor. They are really something .They think about just love love love oh give me a break. They really have so much free time lol. I said this cuz situations in the manga like Takimoto's nephew he attempt suicide in that age and Takimoto sad about this and another minute he steal a kiss from the uke.Omg i thought what are you thinking man we have problem here 'a child'.I know this is a bl manga but if you put in there like these situations you need the take the responsibility. But mangaka just pass this. And uke seme muc muc loveydovey. Some love drama again.I am irritated.(all the time ukes always cry like a baby. You are an adult, lawyer why are cry easily for your heartbreak be strong geez that was really annoying)
(Sorry for bad english it is not my mother language and i rushed)

Dramatic enough!

I bet everyone have read a manga with typical plot with many characters falling for each other and how their love will get dragged on and on. Most mangaka couldn't come up a good flow like this one. Yes, Amamiya and Gamou's situation has been dragging on and on in the manga but hey, at least there's a flow. There's drama involved. I liked it when how Takimoto's sudden appearance and Kitahara's development of feelings for Amamiya during the climax adds spices to the story! It makes me go all...nervous, like, "what's gonna happen next?!" kind of thing.

Plus, the development of the characters, especially Amamiya is awfully good! I'd be pissed off if he acts like an idiot and ignores Gamou's feelings. But then again, I don't really like the idea of Gamou trying to run away and turn to Takimoto. But anyway, it's a good shounen-ai manga. I'm not really a fan of shounen-ai manga, since I'm more of a yaoi fan but I read this up since it's done by my favourite mangaka. And I'm very pleased with what I've read! Totally recommendable for both shounen-ai and yaoi fans! biggrin

I guess it was because her character's facial expressions and attitude were fantastic, but Saeki jumped out as a memorable character to me even though she's definitely a "supporting actress"

Predictable...

Even though it says that the story is still ongoing, I think 3 volumes is the whole series.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Reading the raws of volume 3, pretty much everything got concluded that needed to be done. Towards the end, the main question that sums up the manga is, should Gamou go into an one-sided, unrequited friendship for the rest of his life, or chose his ex-boyfriend whom he loved when he was younger and who loves him back? With this, Amamiya eventually realizes his feelings for Gamou, and Gamou ended the relationship with his ex-boyfriend and got together with Amamiya. The secretary got with Anzai. I was kind of disappointed that the secretary's relationship with his ex-boss never got develop, but I’m happy he's with Anzai who seems to have been in an unrequited love with the secretary for a while.

This story was a bit too melodramatic for me at times, but it's understandable as it's never easy to confess to a friend that you love them as more than friends, much less doing it to a friend who's the same gender as you are. There was plenty of angst in this manga, and Amamiya played his role as the innocent bystander to the feelings of others perfectly. Although he doesn't mean to attract all of these unwanted attraction, his bright personality gives a reason why others develop feelings for him. As for Gamou, I can't consider him “weak”, but he wasn't as solid as I would have wanted him to be as a main character. His tears and indecision between picking his old love and new love was realistic, but can be irritating for me at times to read.

Anyway, this is a good manga series to read if you want the angst that comes from unrequited love. It's not particularly the best nor does it have a huge impact on me, but it's funny at times and it'll make you sympathize somewhat with Gamou's life a bit. I’ll admit, it was very predictable so, just from small signs, I was able to predict what would happen next in the story and that wasn't too exciting. The female character, Saeki, was the highlight for me, as well as Gamou's ex-boyfriend, Takimoto. I found myself rooting for Takimoto, and yet, wanting him to find someone who was capable of completely loving him also. Saeki was a jewel and she made me laugh the most. I really wished that she would have her own story, but strong females like her just aren't popular, I suppose.

So, all in all, a good read for a hour or so on a rainy day.

Most heartfelt manga I've seen in a long time...

This is definitely a beautiful and heart touching manga! The central theme is of unrequited love, and each character either perpetrates it or suffers it in some form. The main character, Gamou, loves his college friend, Amamiya, but Amamiya is straight and can't return his feelings. Years have passed and now Amamiya is uncertain about just what he feels for Gamou. But both Gamou and Amamiya have other people interested in them, who may just be more suitable for them, yet they are unsure about being with other people.

It isn't dragged out, but there is no quick and dirty gratifying sex scenes. The focus of the manga is more on emotions, especially the inextinguishable hope and desire you have for the one you love even despite knowing a relationship is impossible and nothing can come out of it.

I actually don't get why this managa has so many ratings of 10, Don't get me wrong I do like this manga but really it's not her best work IMO. Like a previous reviewer said, the relationship does feel a bit dragged on. It's pretty clear how they feel about each other but i guess there is the friendship that Amamiya is worried about. I'm just a bit annoyed that the mangaka introduced the ex, I actually like that character...

I loved LOVED this manga. I think that it is a great read and more people should know about it because it digs deep. You cheer for the main couple and jeer when the main couple's future is at stake. The author brings in new characters with new dramas....it's really fun! The uke and seme are awesome...bottomline is that I recommend this manga.
