I can't do this anymore. Dropped at ch. 59

I tried so, so, so hard to like this story. I've read so many other manhwa/manga/manhua with the same premise/setting so I know not to judge before chapter 40-ish, at least.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Unfortunately despite understanding that Hailynn is not only a kid NOW but even in her previous life she does not have much experience of doing, well, anything. Something about her characterization is just pissing me off. She died at 18, confined all of her life. So, yes, I guess, her character is consistent in her innocence, naivete and blah, blah, blah but that doesn't excuse how goddamn annoying she is.

She's NOT passive. She tries to actively escape her situation. She's too, I think, "all loving", and does NOT defend herself at the appropriate times when she's already been in that situation before. She knows exactly what's going to happen but ALWAYS, 100% of the time, chooses the exact wrong action to take. Which, yes, okay, considering her abusive life so far, in both of them, her actions are perfectly realistic and understandable to her situation...I guess.

It is wild to experience this amount of frustration; it's hell to read. Like, I literally held my breath at times because I was so irritated, trying to calm myself down.

Her dad is even worse.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Who the hell allows a child to go ANYWHERE without guards or chaperones regardless of the status of whoever she's going to meet with OR her own wishes "not to let the Duke (her blond dad) see this side of her". Like, it is NOT responsible for her to go off with a 2nd prince who's got a small army of assassins after him and just a round of guards, regardless of whatever she wants. The Duke KNOWS THIS. Knows the 2nd prince and Hailynn are both in precarious situations. Yet he lets them off together. Without him.
Dude has 1 braincell and he's not using it.

Arfhgurdtrssssbbdxffffffuuuuuu

I haven't been this stuffed up unsatisfied in a long time!!!!

It's about putting her in outfits, not developing a character

The artist is the same as from "Empress from another world". The ML's are identical, and the FL looks exactly like the children in "Empress". The one bright side is at least this Duke is supposed to be pure and is her father, so he's not rapey and as gross as the ML from "Empress".
I'm assuming this is going to be all fluff, as the prologue itself mentions that the FL's looking forward to "all~ of the outfits!" she gets to wear as the Duke's daughter. After being locked in small house for a decade, she has clearly not matured or learned anything to help save herself this time around, so expect a empty headed child rather than an adult in a child's body.
I think the manhwa solely exists to dress-up a blonde white girl in cute outfits like a doll. That's probably why her face is always stuck in one position like 😮

I read up to chapter 40, and I can't deal with this lmao. It just stresses me out. I seriously don't understand the Duke at all. It's okay if you don't want to adopt your unknown kid or if you want to sort out your feelings, but don't take it out on her?? He never even tries to understand MC.

And then all that effort to find her and just to return her? Just let her be with the bear, she's happier without the Duke or the Count anyways.

My rating doesn't have to do with the MC - I personally think her characterization completely makes sense - altho she's "18" technically, she hasn't had any experiences that make an adult an adult - I just see her as a kid who's lived a bit longer. She's pretty cute! (re: chp 39!).

Can't stand the lead

This is yet another cute story where there's a young child in a horrible situation who discovers they belong to a much nicer family. I really like the story and characters. Except for the most important one - the MC.

She goes back in time to her body as a child, so she should have more maturity. But she acts like she's 2. She's supposedly motivated to change her situation no matter what. But she just meekly accepts everything that comes her way with a sad expression. Say something! Do something! At least get angry! Anything, please!! I realise she's in a child's body, but even something as simple as her speaking up for herself would do.
Ugh, so annoying. Fine, let everyone walk all over you for a second time.

So Sad

The art is cute and the setting has potential but the MC leaves me feeling super sad. Like the summary says she was confined to a hut!

I'm currently at ch 19 and the characterization is on point with MC. She exhibits and behaves very much like someone who was confined to a hut for 11 years with only her abusers for contact. This is a traumatized little girl who is desperate to live but lacks the emotional control/development to make "smart" choices. Its frustrating at times because you want to say "oh but MC is really an adult in a child's body so she shouldn't act that way" but she's really more like a slightly older child in a young child's body.

Edit: I made it to ch 29 but I'm dropping it. I don't think its bad, I would just prefer to read something happier.

I feel compelled to leave a review since everyone has so much to criticize.

There are way too many cliches in manhwa these days so it's not surprising this story will get compared to a lot of other works that may be your favourite, but if you don't mind reading something that on the surface seems similar to what you've read before then you should give this a try.

At the same time, cliche doesn't have to mean it's bad. If it's written well, or its engaging then does it really matter if it's got tropes you've already read about in a hundred other works?

Now on to the main criticism of the story: our female lead, main protagonist – Hailynn.
(I won't address anything else in this for now, maybe in the future I'll come back and consider it)

What I'm seeing a lot from people who read this manhwa is criticism of how Hailynn is stupid, and various comments directed at her, even using the r slur for acting her age.

She is not stupid. She is literally a child. The audience is simply choosing to ignore the fact that
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Hailynn was abused in a room for so many years in the previous timeline, she did not really interact with anyone except for her abuser and also died tragically. While she may have aged physically to be 18 years old in that timeline, it's very obvious her mental and emotional growth was stunted as a child, and the abuse and her isolation along with the trauma of everything in her life has lead to multiple issues such as with her anxiety, and low self-esteem issues to name some.

Ignoring that fact which has been emphasized plenty of times in her current timeline and affected her behavior, I don't see how anyone can call her stupid. I'm sorry she's suddenly not the sharpest took in the shed with great social skills and able to immediately trust nice people around her and open up about everything she's thinking or fearing and ask for help? I truly do not understand what the audience expects from someone like her after the life she has lived.

This really is more of a rant than a review, but I wish the audience would give her a fair chance and be considerate of her situations. It hasn't even been that long for her since she returned to the past so expecting her, a young child riddled with fear and anxiety to act like an adult and immediately deal with situations that leave her shaking in fear every time she remembers her past and make rational decisions is not only stupid but also very cruel.

The author has actually done a great job at writing her character, it's very realistic, and I can't wait to see Hailynn heal from everything that has happened and be with the Duke and finally have a family who loves her and be happy.

This story is boring and cliché. It’s only saving point is the nice art but the plot is unoriginal and boring for those who have read similar topics.
