Yamada Yugi-sensei is among my favourite manga authors, so it's really no surprise that I'd eat up any work that she does release. Now that I can finally put this manga into my complete list after, what, 6 years..?, I can say with confidence that I really like it, and that it is so full of her signature traits just the way I remember them.

I love the way sensei tells her stories and how every scene gets transitioned into the next one so smoothly. It goes to show she has very thorough understanding of the medium she's using to express art, something probably acquired from the years of experience. Silly stories become hilariously so, while ones with a more serious tone get effectively layered and you can never really tell where they're heading next. Reading each story is almost like peeling one by one layer off of an onion in order to unravel the hidden meaning at the core, and in the process the stories become very interesting and worth all that exploring effort. What's even more amazing is that sensei manages to do this within the span of only a few dozen pages in each story, so not even one feels dull or out-of-place with the rest.

Also, the mangaka's use of comedic relief and timing is just superb, something I've noticed is generally lacking in more recent BL manga titles. The humour is so seamlessly woven into small cracks in between heavy emotional blocks of plot that I doubt most authors could even come close to sensei in terms of skills. There's no sudden mood swing or instances of distasteful comic relief disrupting important plot points and the designated atmosphere, which I seem to have come across recently more often than I wish to do.

I'm probably spending too much time singing praise in a comment on a page of an information site, but it's been so long since I last felt so passionate about a BL author and her works. Hopefully the scanlators have plans to do the rest of her unscanlated works in the foreseeable future too, haha.
