A black spot on shoujo manga where the plot is angst to the core and whatever the FL does is acceptable without question maybe this was written by a female author who has brains in her knees and is mentally ill for all intents and purposes.
This comes as a shock as that b*tch was trying to make her two lover live together I mean if ML did it this comic will be trashed by all but clearly this comic should be trashed by all, just coz FL did it doesn't mean it's OK and this comic is a horrendus disgusting trash.

I read this years ago and remembered it being one of my favorite mangas at the time so i decided to reread (a mistake)
The art is so beautiful - it got me through the whole reread - and tanemura's world building is absolutely amazing
She builds such a surreal world with elements of a high school that feel fantastical without ever crossing the line and pushing it into full blown fantasy
But over all the story definitely doesn't hold up the way i thought it would
The FL constantly refers to her self as "simple" and says she doesn't understand most things the way other people do - and the other characters call her stupid all the time
They try to make this a defining characteristic for her by saying that's what makes her charming - she's so straightforward - but it really doesn't work and is just upsetting to read
I'm really not a fan of the "she's so stupid it's cute" trope - it's super demeaning but they just continue to roll with it throughout the story
I wish we could've seen the FL being more of the beautiful badass instead of the cute bumbling idiot she was for most of the chapters
Also the wrap up at the end is very loose - which is somewhat typical of the genre - but if you're expecting the characters to explicitly work out their relationship problems you may not be satisfied
All that being said this manga will forever hold a special place in my heart

The scene where they eat McDonald's really did it for me because it almost starts to feel like they're in another world and then the author brings you back with all their realistic date activities

I thought it was weird that a lot of the conclusions weren't actually said out loud to the FL - they were mostly written as characters' inner monologues
Such as the exchange with the FL parents where they address their relationships at the end when the mom regains her memory - the FL wasn't there for that even though it was her motivation for a lot of the things she did throughout the story - so is she even aware all her parents worked things out?
She can't read her bio dad's thoughts like the reader can so did they just have a conversation about it later?
Idk but for some reason this is bothering me way more than the FL ending up married to one but living with both brothers

Takanari is being the best ML he can be once his identity is known and he learns that Haine is in love with him who wrote the children's book.
Seriously, Haine's parents needed to get their act together: Like sure, Haine's mom got an arranged marriage to Haine's non-bio dad, and vowed to hate him and then secretly grew to love him (okay, those falling in love were legit sweet scenes), but instead of being honest and accepting this, she drives herself to a degenerative state? Rich people just need therapy and couple's therapy.
Actually, every main character (Haine, the twins, Ushio and the servant/school nurse, the parents, the step-dad) should go to some form of therapy except for the gay couple and the young sibling couple.
Haine's mom had two kids with this guy, and at no time during sex were there any feelings conveyed about change of heart, etc. What was going on in the bedroom, do they not communicate? How did consent work between them?
If this was a more adult and mature story (not just smut, but like adults communicating), I think we wouldn't have had 11 volumes of trauma and pain from the FL that's clearly driven by her mom's inability to be honest with her feelings.
Also, Haine's best friend....wait, so was she having sex with these random guys, just making out with them, or just hand stuff? I'm so confused because she said she's never kissed before, and she actually mentioned she's a virgin, so what foreplay is happening? Hugs? I guess Tanemura can get away with this ambiguity since it's serialized in Ribbon, so whatever.
Also, sure why not be poly? It's practically a harem comic.

I really loved this work of Tanemura because of the characters, they were very well fleshed-out. The plot itselt gets irritating and confusing at times but there is a more or less satisfying conclusion. The ending is, no matter who you are rooting for, not really shoujo-like and even for open relationships there were still too much unresolved opininons.
Decent love story, though I will say...

What's with shoujos and the absolutely awful behavior that comes from the main character's parents? I mean my god, usually one of the sides has a bunch of out there drama. And the shit they pull is always forgiven.
The ending is also a little off...

The female lead's side was the absolutely worst this time. Her mother loved her biological father, but had to marry off to this other guy for money. Well, the biological father basically had to move on, but still had feelings for the mother. When it's finally confronted at the end, she claims she's fallen in love with her husband. I felt really bad for the biological father of the female lead who never actually finds out that this girl (female lead) he's bonded with and thinks of as a daughter is actually his daughter. I get you can't help who you fall for, but the mother doing that to the biological father was kinda fucked up. She was just forgiven for abandoning him.

She has feelings for both Takanari and the real Shizumasa and actually proposes a polygamist relationship. Neither of the boys want it though. She then dates Takanari, but they have problems because of her split feelings. She feels guilty about it and when he proposes, she decides to give all her love to Takanari. They get married, but have to deal with the fact that Shizumasa will live with them. Not because she still loves Shizumasa though, but Shizumasa wanting to live with his brother to make up for what I assume is all the horrible shit that was done to him.

It's just disgusting and demeaning how this girl is such a Mary Sue that she can be like "let's get married but also I'd like your rapey ultra-possessive brother (whom I'm also in love with) to live with us" and it's somehow a grand romantic conclusion where "everyone's happy".

I admit, I followed this series back in the day as it was being released every month and the story was super confusing to follow. Every character has a complex backstory and if you're not paying close attention, the story seems to contradict itself. (It makes sense if you read it carefully, all in one go, AND read the Author's notes).
The art is classic Tanemura - heavily toned, lots of floral imagery, bird and angel motifs, angsty partially nude shots, etc. If that's not your thing you'll probably think it's too over the top, but in this case it's just crazy enough to work when you suspend your disbelief and recognize that the major themes are loneliness and different kinds of love, and how best to own up to them.

I too have mixed feelings about the ending. The love triangle is more or less settled, but there's a slight window of change if you like the other pairing. (Fanfiction time for those of you who do, I assume.)
Still, with is beautifully detailed art, complex characters, and unique story line… this is the first time I ever rooted for a character to literally marry 2 husbands… Shinshi Doumei Cross has been firmly rooted in my favorites for over 8 years.

Like most mangas, the beginning is a little boring, and I thought it was going to be one of those super cliched mangas, but once the drama starts it gets to you ><
One of the biggest reasons for me to love this manga is that there are multiple couples, each one having their own unique story <3 Anyway, totally recommended!!

Even when Shizumasa is revealed to have a twin (Takanari), it doesn't get to that annoying love triangle either. Also, when each character personal story is revealed, it makes you care for them and understand their actions ;-; Like Maora and Ushio.

people being to critical about everything. The main character was fine with me. Not everyone has to be a saint. Not everyone is pure. The story could have been needing more explanation but to me i didn't think it needed it. now after vol 7 did the story start to slow down a bit for me but i enjoy it. Not every story needs a gold medal.

It almost caught my attention nicely. The plot seemed nice. But I couldn't help but feel like there was gaps and a disappointing ending. The girl was annoying too.. True form of "all over the place".
Artistry could have been better for he guys and main character.

starts off kinda interesting and sweet. Then the drama starts to kick in. Who is this top head guy in the school? The twin brother is brutal and he lives a double life. For the most part some things are obvious. They both have played a part in making her life better a little. And both love her. This is when things get annoying. They keep saying how naive she is in the story. Annoyingly so though. She is just straight stupid in her decisions up into the end when she marries one brother but still loves he other?! Wtf. The daddy issues were also solved a little too easily.. And what's up with the memory lose with the mom. Then she's a bad ass then she's a sweetheart. Seems more like split personality. Can't fully get down with a story were I find the main to be annoying.
