Unfortunate

The central conceit and humor this manga revolve around is a simple twist of our typical sentai expectations where our main character is instead a typical grunt of the traditional sentai evil organization. It could have very well have hung its hat there and become a low effort affair of picking low-hanging trope fruits. Instead it manages to contain a certain higher level of pathos and cleverness. The humor is broadened beyond the trappings of genre and there's a low-level drama but not one that can just be dismissed as obligatory. Unfortunately, it was axed prematurely. I'd hate to slag the artist in what appears to have been their first commercial work, but it's difficult not to identify the art as not being to par; even for an action-gag manga. Not to say the inherent idea or art style was an issue, but rather it contained a certain sloppiness that is becoming of haphazard work, not stylistic intention.

ITS SO GOOD , the plot and comedy was great in my standards but why'd it have to end , the part where it ended was a cliffhanger for me cause i dont know what happened to 3 of those characters

It's freaking hilarious, totally hit my sweet spot when it comes to comedy. Sadly it's rare to find good gag mangas like this one where comedy is the main point. I guess stuff like cuticle tantei and some other ones can match up to it, but a lot of these works AREN'T translated properly. Either big chunks are missing or like with this one it ends all of a sudden, either due to missing translators or no more chapters. At least it was completely translated, but 27 chapters was far from enough, it ended right in the middle of the action. The WN and LN goes on, but no one is translating them, except for the WN that has 5 chapters translated with the translator in a slump or something, sigh.

Somehow all the category recommendations are just yaoi or shoujo crap biggrin

Ratman's rising lesser successor...

Ratman was a fairly interesting story about a short kid that got tricked into joining an evil organization, and resultantly became their almighty super-powered villain that would have to fight alongside or against the various superheroes of the big city. I really enjoyed the cute relationship between the shy classmate and the MC, the organization's three main henchmen being both comic relief and surprising deus ex machinas, the heroes not all being total scumbags to hit you over the head of its reversed good vs evil fighting, etc. etc. It had a nice run until it got a rushed ending, but at least managed to put everything together in a nicely wrapped bow and make it look all pretty within the epilogue.

Now with this series, we're given a much more simplistic art direction, a ton of gags, and an MC that becomes an evil organization's henchman instead of becoming their super villain. For all those reasons, I'd consider this series to be lesser than that of Ratman, but mind you, lesser doesn't have to translate out to being inferior; in this case, the series is a gag manga that doesn't take itself seriously in any way, and definitely knows how to use that self awareness toward making itself come off as quite charming.

Aside from just Ratman, it has me reminiscing about Henchman 21 from the animated TV show on Adult Swim, Venture Bros, as one of the evil organization's henchmen that rose up in the ranks to completely surpass his peers. Similarly in this series, the MC doesn't have any special powers, but does manage to look after his comrades and especially his family members, thus making him likable and able to become a stronger individual.

The other characters aren't particularly too special, yet they arguably do add on to being funny toward spoofing Power Rangers, adding more wackiness onto the MC's bizarre new life, or just being downright goofy in either appearance or behavior. I'd like to see a side romance develop between the MC and his superior, but for now, it's not quite easy to tell just yet.

Whether this will remind you of Ratman or just be a light hearted read to enjoy, I do recommend giving it a shot for at least feeling somewhat fresh. Not the most original concept, but again, a nice one to be able to appreciate...

Love the premise

Really original, even with the Hero boom as of late, and It does not feel, for me, wasted by a so-so plot like so many others manga with potential had. Anyway, looking forward to more, hope the scan is just sleeping and not death.
