I hate timeskips, but I can make an exception.

Updated review after I went back and finished it.

What a great manga!
It’s a fairly short read, I’d say something like 6~7 hours in one sitting. I took my sweet time reading it though so I’m not sure.
The story is very interesting and pretty well-executed. It starts off as your average human-to-monster story but around ch15 things start happening. It gets fairly unpredictable. For me, it slumps a bit around volume 7-9 (ch25 to 41),
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
mainly because the focus shifts to the way less interesting Gosho and her *way* less interesting story
.
I really like the big cast and how most characters had an important role to play. Very few of them were one-off characters.
The art is nice too, has a sketch-like feeling to it. This artist really knows how to portray abstract feelings well.

The title is because timeskips are a huge part of this story. There a few big ones and many smaller ones.

I know this review sounds pretty hollow, but I’m not good with these things. I just sincerely hope you pick this up.

A slow-paced manga.

This manga is good in the fact that it deals more with the psychological aspect than the "action" aspect. Makoto's point of view is pretty common in his everyday life, similar to other manga with this type of main character. But this becomes challenged when he tries to revert back to his old life after being bit. I honestly don't understand why he chose to be so passive as a vampire especially since he was being bullied and wasn't held in high regard in a social sense. Maybe being a victim in his human life teaches him the value of being a human being, but whatever it is, it really kept him grounded and it kept him sane despite being a vampire. His friend (and former bully) Yuki, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of how I described Makoto which he ends up shrinking in his social circle after a confrontation with Makoto.

Despite this manga being about vampires, which you would imagine something like Twilight or vampire hunting, there is a lot of humanity, a lot of love and kindness that these main characters show towards each other. They never doubted each other and they always had hope for one another. In turn, this manga ended with a very enlightening aspect of love and respect, and especially about friendship. It makes you question about the value of relationships with people. Most of the characters in this manga were not bad people, they are just simply individuals who all made different choices and it was just the most beautiful thing to read.

This is definitely a good read. I love that this manga is pretty short and the plot length was just perfect. This is absolute perfect for a relaxing read.

Totally Unpredictable

And that's what makes me follow this avidly. The initial premise of a teenage guy being transformed into a supernatural being is familiar. But what happens next is consistently surprising. And that is true even though everyone acts, on a daily basis, like a human in their situation would be expected to act.

It's just that this mangaka is creative enough to have all those believable actions add up to a bizarre and unpredictable series of events. People often say of a manga that it's cliched, and they very often are. This one is the very opposite of that.

What I think Oshimi may b doing here is taking the fundamental story of the interaction of vampires with humans, which in the West has in recent generations always been romanticized (in the sense of being made fascinating and titillating), and telling it in a way that emphasizes tragedy—of the vampires' horrible situation and of their murdered victims,

The American novel, "Interview with the Vampire", published way back in the 1980s, was the first story to do that since the original vampire stores of the 19th and early 20th Century ("Nosferatu the Vampyre", in the latter case).

I am now kind of creeped out, thinking how ugly things could get in this story.

This could get tragic if Oshimi chooses to make it so.

Now that this manga is over, I’m change in my review. Like most of his other stories, it starts out belt on a good premise. Unfortunately, it really never completely fleshes out or developes any kind of depth. The ending leaves you unsatisfied and craving for a more complete story. If I ever do read another of his comics, I will wait until it’s completed.

Am I brainwashed..??

I'm not sure how to describe this but I feel brainwashed.. The flow of the story is just amazing in a sense that I can't quite comprehend. I'm not sure if it's the flow of it, if it's the actual writing, the art or what. But everything just CLICKS. The art and the story meshes well, the pacing of it is perfect, and I feel fits with the personality of the character. It's not boring at all.

There's a slight seinen vibe, and I feel like I can understand some of the situations very well. The situations feel more realistic, which is different from most manga of this type of genre, where I feel there are more "coincidences" that aid in progressing the story.

[As of chapter 7.]

One more twisted and dark story :)

Oshimi is my favorite mangaka, he always portray his characters as mentally weak at first, but you can see in time that his main character gain a sort of enigmatic wisdom that push them further onto adulthood and maturity. For those that enjoy dark and twisted mangas, this author will not fail you smile

Came across this manga today and so far it's pretty good. It's a nice spin on the vampire genre where its finally female turning male. Monthly releases I believe, so in the coming months my score might change. 8/10
