This story was sooo wholesome and sweet. I really loved the romance in the beginning - that’s what drew me in. (And the beginning was my most favourite part! I felt it got more dramatic, even a bit boring, later but it was still very good.) Yejin aka Gugu (FL) is also really pure and kindhearted, but not weak. I love stories like those kinds of characters.
But later on, the story started becoming more complex as it revealed more of the characters’ backstories. It had a lot of depth. The portrayal was also very good. The fact that it was saying that no one is perfect, and that we all struggle in life… really touched me.
Great pacing, no plot holes, and this is a very continuous, consistent and thorough story.
It is idealistic, maybe even blurring into unrealistic, but that’s how a story goes. The author was really able to describe their intention and vision in the Afterword - and holy smokes, no wonder the story is so good, because the author put so much thought into it!
Oh yes, how can I not rave about the art. THE ART IS SO GOOD!! The great use of colours, shadow and lighting. Superb. I found the faces of some characters were drawn… unconventionally, but it was a very unique style. Otherwise everything was perfect and very well drawn.
So much research also went into the different elements of the story - the various neighbourhoods in Korea and Seoul, the backdrops, taekwondo, molecular biology (which, as a science student and nerd I SERIOUSLY LOVED MY SUBJECT BEING REPRESENTED!). It was so clean and simple yet also detailed. chefs kiss
And did I say how meaningful this story was? The message it was trying to tell was so powerful. I’m a sucker for good stories like this.
So yeah, 10/10 for me. Hope it is for you too.
