Description
Uno Hinako throws herself into makeup, fashion and falling in love, hoping that will make her seem "normal" to the other people at her job. But no matter how hard she tries, she's a self-doubting mess inside and her attempts at "normal" romance with men just keep failing. When she starts to think she might be alone forever, a new normal presents itself in the form of her relationship with Asahi Sato, a level-headed woman who works at her company. It starts as respect, and then it becomes far more intimate.

It didn't feel like Yuri

One of the most boring Yuri I have ever seen
the main couple felt more like best friends who are not attracted romantically to each other
bad 'romance' + dumb love triangle to drag the plot

My first GL read

So, I haven’t read any girls love manga before, really. However, I don’t want my review to revolve around the series being girls love too much. All in all, I felt that it was a light read with likable characters and a smooth and soothing way of depicting the character’s emotions, they felt reliable to some extent. Their romance did progress slow, but I didn’t think of it as too slow and I want to appreciate that the author decided to not put unnecessary drama into the story which was very refreshing. In order to explain what might have been better, in my opinion, I need to spoil a bit:

1. In the beginning, when Hinako was dating men, it was depicted early on that she didn’t want to be touched by them. I thought that she just didn’t feel attracted to them because deep down, she feels that she is not romantically and physically attracted to men, but maybe to women. However, in the end, Hinako also tells Asahi that she might never be interested in touching and kissing. In general, I think it’s totally fine when someone feels that way, there are asexual people out there and that’s a valid feeling. If the author was trying to put asexuality into the series, I’d wish that they elaborated on this further and with more detail. Now, it just feels squeezed in and I cannot understand the purpose of Hinako’s supposedly asexuality for the story. There simply was no need for that and it seems there’s no benefit for the story whatsoever. Or maybe I didn’t get why it was important for the author, because they didn’t elaborated on it more detailed.

2. There’s been an issue between Hinako and her mother that has been also introduced quite early and in the end, they were able to resolve it. Well, that’s a good thing for sure. However, similar to my first bullet point, this idea didn’t seem to be fleshed out very well. There’s been a hint here and there, but it didn’t really have an impact on the story and this story line could have been abandoned. I wouldn’t have missed it. The resolution was too rushed and that us exactly why it’s actually unnecessary.

Aside from these two things, I enjoyed my time with the series very much. If you look closer, there might be more flaws, but I don’t mind them too much. All in all, I don’t regret the time I’ve spent reading this and that’s a good thing after all.
