The bride tells her friend that she's in love with her too, but then still gets married? What?

Pulse takes place 12 years after the wedding. The 2 reappear and are together now. The bride tells the main character of Pulse how she lived in a loveless marriage for 12 years and hurt the one person she loved the most. She finally worked up the courage to leave her husband. Still 12 years seems kind of a long time.

It's the very short story of two best friends who both hold the same feelings for each other. They are able to confirm these feelings after the one best friend has been married. And because of family obligation she must forever close her heart off to her true love... of course she does have feelings for the man she is marrying, however, I just think this is so sad because in my own opinion I'd rather not even live than have to deny my feelings. It'd be one thing if it was an unrequited love and her best friend had to move on... it's another thing to have them both share the same strong feelings and still be forced to deny their love. It's good but in a very lonely way.
