This is a story that takes the facepalming to a whole new level. It's extremely ridiculous, simple and childish, so is the jokes and it's almost impossible to laugh at any of the gags because of how low-level they are. I think this would be popular with kids or teenagers, but I personally find it hard to endure how utterly stupid it is.
I did manage to laugh a little bit here and there, but for 2 volumes that only amounted to a handful of times at best and it wasn't anything even close to being a true laugh out loud type of laughter, it was just a mild chuckle type, provoked because of how exaggerated and stupid this story is. It's silly to the point of being cringeworthy most of the time.
The "maou" is just a hyperactive kid who pretends to be a demon king, the "hero" is a foul-mouthed moron, the "warrior" is a nympho and the "wizard" is a kid who doesn't believe in magic. This all sounds like a combination that could be amusing, but that's not even close to the truth because the author isn't skilled enough to make it so. He takes the worst aspects of their personalities and turns it all into a nonsense story where the maou and hero side are just interacting like normal teenagers. It's like they're playing a little game of pretend. After all, a maou who wants to conquer the world but somehow has money issues and seemingly the power of a weak elementary schooler. They're acting like poor teens from other manga and abides by the laws of society despite having power that should make it easy to at least rob enough money to buy what they want. Doing a dine and dash or something close to it seems to be the epitome of the evil and scheming that they're capable of.
While this is a comedy and obviously not serious at all, I still expect some realistic parts. They have the power to summon big monsters but not the power to get a few yen to feed themselves properly and pay their bills if they want to? Even a comedy can't just go against its own world setting unless you're a really bad author.
