Description

Is it ever too late to make up for a lie? Or can the opportunity be swept away, like white clouds across a blue summer sky?

It's been seven years since Hozumi left behind the island town he grew up in, and Mishima—his close friend and first love from high school—with it. The two haven't spoken since Hozumi rejected Mishima and lied about his own feelings. When Hozumi returns for his high school reunion, he wants nothing more than to make amends, a task easier said than done.

This could have been better. I liked the premise of the story but the whole development of asking for forgiveness was too fast for my taste.

What I liked the most was his Oni Chan, in the short time he participated, he moved me more than the protagonist himself, in my opinion his older brother was the MVP of this story 😉

Filled with Melancholy

This had a certain melancholy through out the whole piece which was strong but even during their happy moments it was sort of there. The feelings of happiness didn't come across for me.

This story starts with my favorite thing in the world, which is angst, so I had high hopes for it. Furthermore, the first chapter starts with heartbreak and that's what I'm here for.
With that being said, the excitement sort of fell flat? It's not bad, in fact it was quite good and I did manage to cry, but it was just a very surface-level manga. It could've gone deeper in almost every possible way, but Kiyuhiko-sensei chose to resolve things in the simplest way. I was pretty disappointed with the way they "talked" through their feelings - and by that I mean "fucked". And there was no emotion to it, at that, we could barely see what was going on. The seme was also cruel for no particular reason during high school, and instead of suffering like he should have for making the uke suffer 7 years, he was let of the hook easily.
It did have its touching moments and I might reread it one day. I loved the involvement of the family and how supportive they were of the relationship.
I also really liked the environment it's set in, the small island with the light house, it just felt very 90s for me.
On that note, however, the art was also very early-BL, which, contrary to the feel of the story, was not great. I wasn't a fan of this art style at all, and it didn't match what was on the cover.
Overall, this is a short read that was worth it, but I probably won't be reading this author again because it didn't particularly impress me.

The story was really good! Although I'm a bit confused onto why Hozumi decided to lie but I guess it's for Mishima's sake? It was really selfish though, I agree on that. The art is really pretty and honestly it's just a touchy feely manga. Although I'm a bit confused onto what grade they were in because they look so young for twenty year olds? I almost thought they started dating in middle school, jeez. About that one sex scene, I'm not too sure what to feel about that, it was as if Mishima let Hozumi did whatever he wanted even though Mishima technically still isn't sure about his feelings for him😕 It was really sudden too, so that's that.

Overall, this was a good manga with a decent plot and nice characters! 8/10!

The story isn't exactly new or thrilling which is why it needs a skilful and competent storyteller to bring out the charms that it potentially has. Unfortunately that wasn't the case here as the execution was severely lacking and rendered this manga very plain and even more unremarkable than how it already was by nature. The art looks like it's produced by an amateur who's still learning how to draw and how to compose manga panels; don't be fooled by the cover because that's legit the best drawing out of the entire book. I'm just underwhelmed and unimpressed by the whole thing.

Conflicted Feelings

I have such conflicted feelings about this. On the one hand there is fantastic art, such positive portrayal and support of marriage and love between gay people. The sense of reality that this manga manages to capture is simply off the charts. The character development is there even if not in the shape in which I would like it to be only in regards to Hozumi though. Mishima is so pure; I LOVE MISHIMA.
However, and I believe to be able to be published, the forceful nature of their sexual interactions is just disappointing. Not to mention, how the story focus on the two protagonist without taking into account their social environment even though that’s the trigger for their relationship.
