Hmmm.
I can tell that the main story wants to be beautiful. And I can sense (ha) the effort. The premise is not exactly unfamiliar, but it is delivered delicately. Specific moments and panels are portrayed beautifully, the dialogues are soft and delicate, and the art is working overtime to sell this story of two broken people who finds pure love between each other.
And yet it doesn't really reach...that point.
The story needs to build up more of the main characters. And it needs to settle in both of them, letting us feel about their deepest, darkest thoughts, instead of simply glossing over it like the faintest wash of a watercolor. The female patroness is also sadly underused; she could have provided a lot of texture and nuance for this entire narrative, but instead she just settles into the sadly typical role of 'dumped girlfriend'. And finally, the ultimate climax, the grand gesture of love, feels hollow at best and creepy at worst. Sneakily getting your student's address AND THEN their house keys is not romantic at all and it gives me all the wrong ideas about the seme. Up until that point he's been an intriguing character, a cipher, and after that point all I can think of was instead "oh he's just another dirty old man."
I appreciate the effort, still, and I welcome this attempt of trying to make something new. I just don't think it completely succeeds.
The second and third story, meanwhile, nails the landing better for me. The buildup and unresolved tension in both stories feel so good, and the spike of eroticism leaves you wanting more. The endings are also masterfully done, resolving the plot while again, leaves you wanting more.
