(Ch.9)
I'm gonna be honest and say I don't know how to feel about this one.
The art is decent, but inconsistent sometimes (has moments where the art randomly improves above decent). Though the fight scenes fall flat for me in terms of composition and action.
The plot is too early to know.
The world building is slow, but the world itself has taken a muted approach to a post-apocalyptic world where magic, levels and guns co-exist among the ruins of a large city. I get the feeling there is extensive lore, and it just hasn't been revealed to us yet. I think this is the right decision by the author, though I'm more and more certain this story might just not be my cup of tea.
The characters... I don't like them much. Sure, the MC is kind, and the girl he shares an existence with is quirky, but it feels unnatural—both of them. I don't know how else to put it. Other character interactions feel a bit janky, too.
I will say it's nice to see some violent criminals get put down permanently but not all of them: far too often manga make their "good guys" incapable of understanding evil and thus letting serial r*pists and killers go, or make their protagonist a serial killer who can't show mercy. This story has a nice in-between, where it makes sense with who is spared and who is killed by the main character and their circle.
If I may discuss the biggest distraction for me: the girl who the MC shares a life with is dressed in a way that messes with my head. It's hard to ignore, too, and screams, "Look how impossible I am." Sure, she's way too scantily dressed, and certainly it draws my eyes every time, but once I do look, all my brain does is try to divide by 0.
By all means, at least half her nipples should be showing, but they're not.
It's just so nonsensical that instead of feeling lust, I just feel confusion. I'm happy that's the case, but it causes me to want to see what isn't there, and that is a problem for me, so I think I'll drop this here for my sake.
Overall, the manga seems like it has a good world builder but bad character writer, and an artist who can (but so far hasn't) step up their game soon. And an outfit designer who needs to be tried for crimes against logic.
