Honestly this manga should have been Josei instead of Seinan. It's written chiefly for Women from a woman's perspective. But the editor himself called this a Seinan manga so nothing can be done.
The first 4 volumes are rather boring where nothing particularly happens. More or less all the characters here think about Sex; whom they should sleep with. Reika's promiscuous nature is tiresome, all the men she meets, she sleeps with them & her logic of freedom is very odd. On the contrary, Akane is stiff & ambivalent.
Then what makes this interesting?
Genjiro's relationship with Akane. Akane shines best when she is with Genjiro. In fact, I've found one of my favorite scenes in manga; the under the table kiss scene between the two. This has been executed very well.
As you read & move forward, a massive discovery; all the characters are flawed. They are perverse but in the end some prove better than the others. The art style was the very reason I decided to read this manga a few years ago. Not that it reaches my expectations when it comes to plot (art is superb, Genjiro is handsome & women are voluptuous) . Nonetheless will read this again anytime for the silliness.
One thing though, Yumi Hanakoji wanted to add some drama introducing business problems in the Tojo family but the editor wanted to keep this sex based only, which in my opinion was a missed opportunity. It would have been way more dramatic that way.
There is a sequel to this & will gladly read that as well to see how Genjiro & Akane grow as spouses. Seen some of the sequel's pages, yeah already interested.
