Its just not well written and the art isn't that particularly good either. The story needed more to it, some of the characters are just not developed enough. The Beta (aliens) aren't developed at all. There's almost no action, the harem elements aren't developed very much, the drama is lacking, comedy is poor, the romance isn't very good and the fan service (if you like that sort of stuff) is kinda weak too. The only good part is the very end in the epilogue were they show some balls. Came to this by MuvLuv Alternative anime which showed some promise, but dropped that because it wasn't that good either. I'm reading the mangas hoping that they are a little better and no they are not. Don't waste your time on this series.

This is a very faithful adaptation from the visual novel (within the limits of the media.)

That said, if you're unfamiliar with the Unlimited VN, READER BEWARE. This is a FAITHFUL adaptation and there is no "good end"...

I came into this with no knowledge of the franchise. Of course some things such as the references to the first manga mean little to me, so the fact that there are what I usually see as plot holes I'm ignoring in this case. It's a bit typical for action comedy, seemingly useless main character in over his head and needing to rise to out of this world circumstances. If you're into that type of read it's at least worth looking into.

Good alternative way to into Muv-Luv saga for anyone can't understand moonrunes, the minus point is that the translation doesn't so well at some point, sigh, i want english patch for the game or mangagamer export this series like they did with Higurashi
