I really recommend this story. There are some very technical parts about the foster system in Japan but the storyline is good.
We get an idea of the difficulties faced by those who want to foster and also by the child themselves. Just how big a change it would be to take in a stranger and how alienating it could be for the child.
Then, there's also some insight on how the system works and how decisions are come to be made by the staff and higher-ups.
I cried a few times because of Asahi's sincerity and also because of how they portrayed Takane's pain from having to live separately from his mother. Seriously, do give this a read at the source if you can. I hope someone will pick this up for scanlation too.
