Warm 'n fuzzy nostalgia manga

In spite of the art, I am basically in love with this manga. As a big gamer since the '90s, when I was born, this series trips all my nostalgia flags. That it's also a strong romance manga helps a ton. I lauded this at length in a review, but yeah, I really do love the series. There are many reasons it SHOULD be bad, but against all odds it isn't bad at all. In fact, it's rather incredible. Strong characters, a moving story, and while it ought to feel gimmicky ("Video games! The girl doesn't talk! Giiirrrl gamers!") it doesn't at all. It's just really nice.

A lot of gaming references

I've spent a couple of years ignoring this manga for some reason, today I brought myself to read it and I'm both thankful for doing it and thankful for letting it go for a while before reading it.

Loved the gaming references specially since I'm a hardcore old school player. The drawings aren't anything special but after a while you stop caring about it. I specially liked the relationships and connections that are made through gaming, before the era of online gaming, the gaming through arcade centers was like the latest "social media".

Give it a chance for both the games and the peculiar romance.

Personal note: It says in the categories that it was adapted to anime, is this true? I didn't manage to find anything related, if you know the adaptation name by chance PM if you can be so kind. Thanks.

Not everyone's cup of tea

...And probably not mine either. The gaming part is a hit or miss. If you are a fan of the subject, you'll probably love this story. But if you're not that interested in it, while the manga is still good, it loses the charm it may have over other run-of-the-mill rom-coms. The interactions between the two characters are a bit stale (at least up until the first 10-11 chapters) and the female lead hasn't much to offer except her weirdness. Either she charms you and makes you laugh, or you'll become bored of her antics. The introduction of a second female lead doesn't make much sense to me, and ends up making the manga more cliched. I must add that I haven't read much of the story, so this is not a definite judgment, but when a manga fails to impress me in the first 10 chapters, I think it's already a flaw.
I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone, but I wouldn't put it down either. I guess you'll have to try it out by yourself before making a decision.

Ridiculously Romantic

This Series had me going WTF to aww every time Oono and Haruo interact.
The way the author handled the romance in the story is weird yet touching.

While I do love that it shows a lot of old games. Those times when I still play on arcades but what really amuses is the characters. Oono NEVER speaks but her action really speaks louder than words, though she is really weird.
She Hurts Haruo like hell and yet to my eyes it's a declaration of love.

And gawd, it's like two childhood frenemies who just can't figure out their real feelings.
Well on Haruo's side that is.

I have no idea but I'm so pumped for this series it's so weirdly romantic UGH! (I'm repeating myself)

One of the best romcoms

I don't like romantic comedies, but this one is an exception! All because of the setting. This setting is the best and the worst part of the manga. The worst because it's easy to see why console games of the '90s can be uninteresting for a lot of readers. The best because the setting is so fresh.

The pacing of the plot is good if not fast. There is no space for fillers, all events have a meaning. If not for the pacing, I would have never expected much drama in this manga (the characters started as elementary schoolers after all). Now I kinda pity the sony girl (the one who has Play Station). >_<

Since this is Oshikiri Rensuke's manga, you should be ready for his unique art style. Although it's not the most moe art in history, it's not bad at all. The backgrounds are quite detailed, while the characters have their own charm.
