The series had a fairly serious tone until the second volume, afterwards it sorta gave up and went full wacko plot shenigans like its intent was on being a gag manga instead of a decent psychological story.
Ended up being a bunch of weird mess.
That was not as bad as that 6.4 makes it seem(at the time of posting) but then I'm a sucker for a yandere.
There isn't as much torture and abuse as I hoped here; despite what some of the covers suggest, the series actually has almost no violence except for one scene, and even the psychological torture is mostly limited to the antagonist being a control freak. Instead, most of the series is actually a battle of wits between the MC and her new friends, and the antagonist (which is still cool; I like a good battle of wits). I also wish there were a little more depth to characters other than the antagonist - the MC in particular we still don't know very well by the end of the series - but at least the story is complete, if not very original (the reveal is actually very similar to the one in the light novel
