Wow, just marathon-binged this, and it was great - solid 9. The summary is accurate, though a bit lacking. Basically, dude wakes up with future memories, and a cursed mirror that he can use to view his stats - he also gets crime-based powers, though he has to apprentice himself or see it in action before it becomes available, then he must actually master it. Once he's actually got them though, they take on a game-like aspect and clearly break rules of physics etc. So he's got 'superpowers' in a world full of normals. Keep in mind though that it's 'our' world, where serial killers exist, and guns kill people REALLY well, so it's not like he suddenly turns OP or godlike.
The series is actually a lot like a Korean version of Detective Conan, in that this guy is involved in numerous crimes, no matter where he goes. There's a bit of Deus Ex Machina in that 'oh shit, the aquarium i just went too... yeah, i vaguely recall there being a bomb attack...' that there was no mention of. Basically, you can tell it was a webnovel, and not a professionally edited book that was completely written before release. Don't mistake me though - it's a REALLY good one, and the translator was amazing. (Did you know that he/she released over half of the chapters in ONE WEEK - literally 80~ish chapters!)
Anyway, translation quality is superb, plot is gripping and each 'case', which are basically mini-arcs, is really well contained and thrilling. Don't expect a curbstomp ala most 'Gamer' type series, as the MC relies VASTLY on his wits. MC is very much a Phantom Theif type of character, complete with mask and tricks and illusions.
There are downsides, of course, but for a webnovel this is superior. Chief among them are a really good cast, but unfortuantely with little to no resolution. There are a few females who like the MC, but romance is NOT part of this story, so don't hope for that. Also, School Life as a tag? The MC is probably in school for a total of 10 days, and this goes on for years - he literally skips more school than he attends.
Biggest detractor, and I will say this right off because I know people care (myself included) - the ending is remarkably..... blah. No spoilers, but it's incredibly rushed, and were this a manga, I'd call it an Axed Ending. That being said, it's a happy ending, and anyone you cared about survives.
So anyway, give this a shot, you'll totally enjoy it as a quick read. Oh, and praise the translator(s?). Enjoy!
