Too Detailed, but Decent

This is an isekai, and one with a unique premise that ends up driving the plot once the plot gets going. The characters are thankfully not too over the top, and overall the feeling this manga gives of is refreshingly understated, though that could be because the art is... serviceable.

Honestly, I don't want to attack the art too much. I think it's nice that the characters' are drawn the way they are, but the line work isn't very clean, which ends up competing with the text when it comes to the visual space.

And there's a lot of text. Not that it's a bad thing, as so many other recent manga have shown a lack of thought is more irritating than too much, but it also leads to this manga's greatest weakness:

The main character is somewhat of a Mary-Sue. Not in the "the universe bends to accommodate" way (which is the worst and most obvious kind), but in the way the author protects them by making sure they think of every possibility before it happens, even when that thing should be a surprise.

The main character isn't allowed to make a mistake, and it bothers me because no one is that perfect or gets that lucky... and it really does feel like a lot of the main character's forward thinking is based on being lucky enough to have the right stray thought.

Overall, this is far better than the average isekai, though it underperforms as both a sci-fi and a swords and spells fantasy.

One minor gripe: the series seems to be willing to entirely spoil the "spells" aspect, and sideline it with technology, which I am not a fan of, but others probably don't care about.

The last minor gripe is how sometimes an explanation is dead-wrong, and that can pull you out of the story because of how the story just accepts it as correct and is so detail-oriented in general.

Edit: It's testing my suspension of disbelief at about chapter 33 so I'll lower the rating.

Basically an Isekai but it's nice.

Despite the beginning being sci-fi setting it does end up becoming functionally a somewhat low fantasy world isekai but with sci-fi elements so it suffers from the same weaknesses in plot that all other isekais suffer from.

Such as the same trope of being a self-insert MC with overpowered powers with many love interests leading to a potential harem but with a clear main love interest but MC too dense and even plot convenience bandits being cannon fodder to make the MC a hero by saving the victims who are important people of status, unfortunately a plot point which is used multiple times.

Fortunately it makes up for it with the interesting mix of the sci-fi and fantasy elements, no super degenerate fan-service despite most of the female cast being swooned by the MC (which ig can be a negative for some people) and a story direction that is quickly established with a compelling overarching main plot that progresses instead of just derailing.

Underrated gem

I won't recount the plot as that has been done in the description and other reviews, instead just offer my thoughts on this excellent series.

Overall, this series is a fantastic execution of a 'fish out of water' scenario, with the background of a space opera (with excellent world-building of the 'space empire'... so good that there could easily be interesting spin-offs set in it), and a very well-realised fantasy world. The fantasy elements are not original - but are executed very well. Characters, though not original, are memorable and interesting (and the female characters fall into some harem cliches, but fairly minor issues).

The plot is quite grand in time and magnitude (talking galactic scale here). The MC has a clear and and ambitious goal encompassing an entire planet. Politics and courtly intrigue are present occasionally and offer a fun diversion. Art style is a slightly old-school but fits this type of series very well, with excellent mechanical designs, and evokes the space/mecha series of 90's and 00's.

The two negative reviews demonstrate a gross failure to understand this series, or are simply the wrong target audience. This is definitely worth a try if you like space opera/fantasy series with a shonen-esque slant.

Like other reviewers have said, it's not even sci-fi, it's just pointless fantasy magic with no substance.

Don't let the sci-fi fool you, it's just an Isekai

It basically forgets its own sci-fi setting and just becomes a shitty power fantasy Isekai. The nanom stops talking to him the second he has a human companion and he stops using technology except when the plot wants to make a point with it. He's literally never used his rifle once since he got a sword and magic. Speaking of swords and magic, he's a master class swordsman better than any real person in this world because he played a VR video game in the past about swords. He is also a masterful magician able to interact with magic in ways no one has ever thought of before such as basic concepts like visualizing it. It isn't making him better, it's making the civilization worse so he appears better. Nothing about the world is believable and they're basically all savages who have no understanding of the very world they live in or basic things until magical op mc shows them how to do it "the right way". Characters are also just fucking stupid for no reason. His first harem member has to teach him basics of the world literally any inhabitant would know like magic existing and magic stones being in monsters yet she never questions who he is or why he lacks basic knowledge, instead assuming he's an incredibly skillful noble despite lacking kindergarten knowledge. She doesn't bother asking any questions either. She, and the other characters in the series, only exist as foils to the mc, to lavish praise upon him for being so great or to lose to him to big him up.

It's genuinely one of the most basic and shitty power fantasies I've ever read. I might mind less if it actually indulged in its own setting which seems interesting yet it promptly forgets the things that made it unique or actively ignores them even when they have a very clear relation to whatever is going on.

Good so far, too soon to tell

This is an incredibly ambitious story, it has an overarching story of a space opera with the MC being a soldier of a galactic empire at war with an insect like alien species, then it's a fantasy adventuring story with an empowered MC, not solely for his weapons but for the nanomachine AI in his body, then add the political situation of the continent with the main FL being the princess of an overthrown kingdom and furthermore, add the decision and plan the MC makes, which I won't spoil, it's just 20ch in anyways.

It's a story with such a big scope that to be honest it can go anywhere so it's too soon to tell, but it's looking good. It's a pity that it suffers with the same crap and naivety as so many other manga, like the harem subplot and the classic dense MC to feed the harem. The other negative would be that the characters are kind of bland and two dimensional, no growth, so far at least but I don't see it changing.
If it weren't for those two, it would be an excellent manga and story, as it is, it's a manga with a great story (so far) that will be hard to swallow by many that like me are tired of the aforementioned clichés, a really missed opportunity since even with it's flaw it's very well worth reading, specially for sci-fi and fantasy lovers, like me.

Tends to be too wordy but I prefer that compared to all the half-assed isekai/reincarnation manga we have flooding the market. Unfortunately, the manga is hamstrung by its monthly release schedule (I think it's actually 1 chapter cut into 4 parts over a month, but same thing.) Progress is too slow; half a year later and the manga has barely progressed at all.

A little gem

Now, what do we have here: a kind of "clichè" MC (superpowered in comparison to the other characters), with a bit of peculiar but reasonable background. So far, average-good.
For the storytelling, in my opinion the mangaka shows nice skills in giving enough data without repetitions and with a very nice pace: it seems that the pace is "too fast" while actually everything was displayed and worldbuilt pretty properly, it's proof of skill for me.
The art is also nice and gives off some "2000's" or even a little before, vibes, which is a plus for a fantasy setting imho.
In summary, well worth a read.
