... but I thought the ending was nice. It wasn't as rushed as people seems to comment (to me anyways). I felt like at the start it was meant to be that way anyways, especially when you look at the magazine covers for each chapter. Yes the female lead is a typical shoujo heroine that cries a lot and naive, plus the guy is a jerk at first. Lots of tropes here and unrealism, but that's shoujo manga for you. If you're a fan of the genre and the cliche it presents (like the love triangle, bad boys, an only girl on an all boys school even though it's so obvious he's a she, etc), it's readable enough, just don't start reading with high expectations. Tbh I would have hated this series if

Midori ends up with Tsukasa. It's such a typical ending. Idc if he's a bay boy with a soft heart type of guy (I like this trope too, if it's done well), but what he did just puts a bad taste in my mouth. I'm so glad my ship sailed. Wish more leads were like Kazuma.

Ok. The only reason I even cared about reading this was because I loved Moe Kare, but Ikeyamada Go's mangas just went downhill since then. There's A LOT of cringeworthy cliched moments that made me just go "wth, why am I even reading this??"
Don't get me wrong, I like cliches, hell Shoujo mangas are always full of cliches, but Uwasa no Midori-kun is just so cringeworthy idek. It was mostly because they were so weird and unnatural, like there was NO GODDAMN WAY it could happen in real life, I am so done n__n
The ending was okay since

I wanted her to end up with Kazuma
but it was so rushed. She was like "Yay I finally decided who I like", went to be with him, and then THE END. Ugh no, I am so done OTL

So this manga spends the ENTIRE beginning and middle section highlighting Tsukasa and Midori's relationship. I was supporting Kazuma but with the author's sudden change in direction I decided to support Tsukasa instead. But well what do you know? Midori ends up with Kazuma! UGH.

this type of manga is why i have such a hard time finding shoujo that i like (and yes, i'm a girl).
i was so pissed off by the end of the first volume that i had a hard time forcing myself to continue.
it hits just about every cliche out there and the whole "get revenge by beating him at soccer" plot is very weak not well done.
worse, the MC motivation for cutting her hair and getting into a boys school was revenge but despite what she says and it takes third place to all the drama.
(if you want a good revenge-driven MC without all the melo i'd recommend skip beat instead).
this MC is weak, lacking in common sense, and not that interesting.
i absolutely could not stand tsukasa and i don't understand why the MC would ever waver or even look in his direction after what he did.
i guess this series for those who like the stereotypical shoujo stories.
NOT recommended for picky people.

I loved it! Finally a realistic portrayal of a girl in shoujo manga - neither helpless nor a superwoman. Although there were some cliches I feel they were appropriate for a such a shoujo manga and they weren't overwhelming as they tend to be. The only thing that has been bugging me while reading this is: why doesn't she at least tie her boobs with bandages such as in many other manga?! then it would be more realistic that she looked enough like a boy to attend an all-boy school. Anyway, looking foreword to reading the rest smile

Hate the ending...

All the character development with Tsukasa Hino and Midori Yamate...I thought the will certainly be together at the end of the series! This didn't happen though because all of the sudden near the end of the series (Volume 8) the author decided that the main girl should sleep talk "Kazuma" etc.. sad

I don't know why you guys like Kazuma, because he seems like the "prince like" type of guy that WILL ALWAYS end up with the main girl dead ; Also he spends most of the time just staring at Tsukasa and Midori...doing absolutely nothing but that :/. Plus the blurb did not have any description of Kazuma...he seemed like the support guy that can only do so little.

I read Moe Kare!! and I really liked Arata with Hikaru.

I don't know but I prefer the tough/bad guy where you can see beneath their exterior. I hate the overated perfect prince that is perfect because he is perfect blah blah blah :/

This is why I ship Tohru and Kyo (gotta love how Kyo is at times when he's angry or when he's sad). Sakura with Syaoran (yeah he appeared mean and arrogant at first but later found his true feelings for her)...

I really thought that Go will continue the ending at Tsukasa and Midori like in Moe Kare but nooooooooooooooo. sad Hikaru met Arata first and he had the bad sexy guy type but he showed that he cared for Hikaru in his own way. Arata was similarly to Tsukasa and I thought that the author will DEFINITELY put them together because of the good character development throughout the series. I felt Go decided to finish this manga in a hurry because she was either focused in another series like Suzuki-kun or something.
Also to the people hating Tsukasa because of the sexual harrassment...she consented to the moment at the beach and happened to overheard the bet talk :/...she went to prove that she was better than him and he admits that he is still in love with her stubborn/cute personality (also finding out that he still has some feelings after all he went through...). Also Midori spent most of the time blusing and even liking it...I mean if she didn't really like it then she can stop Tsukasa with her powerful legs. Kazuma is a good guy but if you cut out all the Tsukasa parts, there leaves little things to praise about Kazuma. Kazuma seems two-dimensional. x___X

So to the people who liked Moe Kare!! DON'T READ THIS MANGA....or else it will tear you to pieces because of the sudden ending.

Shoujo manga are recommended for girls obviously, so those of you who didn't like it has no room for mushy manga like this. Shoujo manga has some girls that break down easily. If you guys wanted more soccer read Area no Kishi (Knight in the Area) if you haven't. I thought Ikeyamada Go's work is cute, I don't care what others think because we all have different opinions

Weak Characters, Weak Plot

I can't believe I read as much as I did. That was retarted. Everybody in this manga is weak willed, and there's so little focus on soccer. It would have been more interesting if there was a true rivalry in the sport instead of love, sex, and random running around. Also, there's lots of crying. Oh, and not much of a plot either, because it's just about the love triangle.

I started this manga because someone mentioned that the secondary nice guy gets the girl. That's true, but I dislike the flimsiness of all the characters so much that I think they should all end up alone.

First of all i have to say that art isnt awesome but its sometimes nice.Story is little funny and well unreal but that doesent make this manga unreadable. What made me read this story so far is the chemistry between Midori and Tsukasa.I started to like them as a couple since both had their reasons for behaving the way they did.I have to be honest i suck for bad-guy-with-reason chars XD
Now also i think that some people that commented about ending and such are thinking too much about it and mixing what happens in manga and rl and how would it all look or what they would do in rl.This is only manga,fiction..its not real.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Since i liked this manga alot at start i have to say i hate the ending...not because of what or why she choose Kazuma.Simply because i love Midori and Tsukasa as a couple thats why im dissapointed.I dont care about good guy/bad guy in story and who wins.I simply liked them together. Its the thing ...you read manga for months and you love main couple and bam it ends differently. So yeah im sad a bit that she OH so suddenly realized she likes Kazuma -.-

All in all it was a fun read.
