So far there are only two chapters of Deretai Kanojo no Uraomote, and honestly? That’s already two chapters too many. I don’t know what’s going on with some Japanese mangaka, but it feels like they’re in a competition to create the weakest, most spineless, “please don’t bully me” high school male leads in existence.
And here we go again:
The MC is one of those “I just want a peaceful high school life” types which is funny, because you can have a peaceful life without acting like the biggest loser on campus. But no, this guy has the personality of a wet napkin and the confidence of a soggy paper cup.
Of course, he’s surrounded by “ultra beautiful” heroines who apparently love picking the worst available man in their entire prefecture.
Heroine #1: his childhood friend, treats him like garbage because he hurt her feelings years ago by accident. And the MC just accepts it. No pushback. No dignity. Nothing. He rolls over harder than a puppy asking for belly rubs.
Heroine #2: another childhood friend who comes back for a reunion. Naturally, she also has feelings for him because… reasons? Destiny? Plot convenience? She’s beautiful, confident, normal basically everything the MC is not.
But then the MC refuses to be friends with her because she’s “too beautiful,” and being seen with her would ruin his “peaceful high school life.” Bro, your life is already ruined by your own personality, let’s be honest.
And to make it worse, she has to threaten him just to stay friends because he “accidentally” groped her during their reunion. Convenient, huh?
The MC doesn’t deserve either girl. He doesn’t even deserve a background NPC at this point. And I swear, Japanese rom-com protagonists lately come in two flavors:
• “She’s too beautiful, stay away!” ultra-beta mode
or
• “I’m cold, emotionless, and traumatized for no reason” edgy mode
There is NO middle ground. No normal human behavior. Just pure ragebait.
Overall?
It’s trash.
And unless the MC grows a backbone (or at least a personality), I’m not wasting another second on this clown show.
