Sinbad is pretty powerful starting out and there's less of a need for him to become stronger vs Magi. It's a typical band of misfits go off and have adventures while looking for magical metal vessels. If you liked his character prior then I'm certain you'd like this too as it talks about why and Sinbad's history along with his goals.
It's a bit generic as he's in the process of recruiting new members and just travels b/t different countries. The art is more polished and everything looks streamlined including character designs. There's minor cameo appearances from Magi but they don't seem to that noticeable apart from one person who introduces Sinbad to dungeons.
BTW:If you're wondering yes there's a anime OVA covering a part of the first few chapters but no full length series planned that I know of. I'd totally watch it over S3 Magi but maybe I'm just tired of how slow the latter is moving along.

Even though the art is lacking, the plot is amazing. Every bit of the story is well-thought and inspiring. There's humour and tragedy, there are epic quotes, there's everything.
Sinbad is like Luffy from One piece, he had to be the main character in the main story because compared to the rest of the characters, he's an overachiever. I read a comment on tumblr (I think) saying "One day Sinbad woke up and said: "Ι'll win in life". And he did it." That's how awesome he is.

While it is not a masterpiece by itself, it is a great addition to the original Magi: Labyrinth of Magic series. The manga goes through the life of Sinbad, a character many people have been very curious about, and his household vessel users. I mean come on, he somehow conquered all those dungeons and became the king of the seven seas!!! Who wouldn't be interested?
Anyways, this manga is very interesting to me, as I am a hardcore Sinbad fangirl, and I hope the author continues this as a side story.
It's interesting to see how all those characters first met, and it really expands the world of Magi~! <3

I feel like this series should have been integrated into the real story arc, maybe as a flashback, or as extra chapters in the tankoubon. The Adventures of Sinbad frankly does not have enough going for it as a standalone, and seems to draw from the reservoir of sentiment I harbor for Magi to keep my interest. There is no remarkable improvement in art, and the story seems rushed and watered-down; sort of like the most recent arc of Magi -- a possible connection?
Either way, it's not that bad, but it could have been better.
