Description

#1 ranked on 17k.com. It is a more subtle narrative with foreshadowing planned by the author which will create some inconsistency and questionable actions at first. Not everything given by the narrative is correct and it is more of a Wuxia in terms of plot.

Chaotic and lacks consistency

SV might have been a decent read. Despite having somewhat of a cliche plot, the backstory has potential, the pacing is reasonably comfortable and does not drag subplots nor flooded with fillers but it has a big issue with consistency & cohesion as a whole which kinda reflects the amateurish writing style.

Author keeps throwing in random plot ideas anytime he wants, the entire narrative lacks a solid direction and the author is indecisive about it. It feels like the author does not thoroughly plan and think before he writes. This leads to a very confusing narrative and many jarring plot holes, sudden turn of events that leave readers puzzled, plot flipping & reversals that makes no sense at all. Furthermore the timing for the foreshadowing, plot transition & overall structure was poorly done too because it does not feel natural. The characters are also kind of shallow and flawed. Moreover there's lots of contradictions, seriously tons of it that it gets extremely aggravating, in the beginning the character was a powerful top tier cultivator while the next moment he is at awe while watching measly weak cultivators fight. Author is confused about what kind of character he intends to make and how to develop them. Basically the entire narrative is just sketchy, very incoherent and does not gel well together, with the worst offense being how every new revelation end up contradicting previous plot points.

Author came up with some interesting concepts and backstory, it would have been a good novel if not for how chaotic the narrative is. Spirit Vessel has the ambition of the novels such as "I Shall Seal The Heavens" but ultimately fails to deliver.

Fast Progression, Fragmented Plot

The plot progresses at an extremely fast pace. On one hand this is good, as the story does not suffer from the overly-long training sequences or repetitive events and statements that often plague similar works. On the other hand, the story progresses so quickly that it often feels as if key events are not only not properly explained, but perhaps forgotten entirely; It feels as if entire sections of the plot have been removed at times, and the story feels contrived and inconsistent as a result.

The plot itself is all over the place, and entirely lacks a sense of cohesion. New characters, plot elements, and ideas are added constantly, with very little explanation or reason for their inclusion. It seems as if the author simply adds new concepts to the work whenever convenient, without considering the impact they have on the narrative nor the need to establish them within the context of the story.

I would also note that the image the author creates of the protagonist is vague at best, almost as if even the author cannot properly define the character's personality and outlook. Feng Fei Yun is initially described one way, then acts another, and seems to think in an entirely different manner entirely. It's impossible to tell what aspects of the character are real, and thereby define him in a way that establishes him as a core element in the story. It almost feels as if he is nothing more than an a narrative observer, rather than playing a role in the events described as part of the plot.
