The setting is the Taisho era. Sumi, who has been oppressed by her family because she was born from infidelity and has never known love, is offered a marriage proposal. She goes to the meeting with a faint hope that she might be happy, but to her surprise, her suitor tries to rough her up. The terrified Sumi is saved by a man named Sotaro Mashiro. Moreover, he asks her to marry him even though they have never met before. Sumi takes Soutaro's hand in the hope that she can escape this hell, but there is something wrong with this man.
