Photon's premise is great.. And the anime is simply a classic. That being said, the manga is a afterthought that adds no real value, and simply isn't done as well.

The mangakata explains things in places that simply break up the story more, and the story loses a good deal of it's charm due to poor pacing and pointless additions..

Overall, it'd be a good manga if it was original, but as it, it's simply a poor knockoff of the anime.

The description is lying, this manga is absolutely stupid and doesn't have any originality at all. This might sound like im going to go on about how bad this is but im not, this is actually an enjoyable read (prefer the anime though) even though the story is lame and so are all the characters.

So why is this enjoyable? well its quite humerous, in an El Hazard kinda way ... without all the lesbians and cross dressing. This is one that you should just try out, get a few chapters in and then judge for yourself
